Jeff Bezos destroyed the Washington Post because he couldn't admit that he didn't know how to run a newspaper, and also because he felt entitled to turn it into his personal plaything. Both are functions of his ego, his greed, his heedlessness, and his insecurity. What a dark day.

I've told this story on ContrabandCamp but it's worth sharing for BHM because it's one of the greatest stories ever.

A thread.

Aside from the absolute fucking evil of turning old warehouses into concentration camps, it will also have the side effect of hollowing out and rotting every nearby community.
It’s hard to put into perspective how truly massive the warehouse is that was recently sold by the Rockefeller Group to the Department of Homeland Security for $70 million to build a concentration camp in Surprise, AZ. Across the street is a huge neighborhood and a school. It’s 400,000-square-feet.

This email between Epstein and JD Vance’s tech oligarch benefactor Peter Thiel where they plan to “collapse” society to create investment opportunities for themselves seems… not great

(They also met with the UN ambassador to Russia together)

At Crooked Marquee this week I wrote about the SGT. PEPPER’S LONELY HEARTS CLUB BAND movie, which is on Netflix for some reason.

The notorious Beatles cover boondoggle is currently, inexplicably streaming on Netflix. You may be tempted to see how bad it could be. Resist that temptation.

Kelly Vargas writes about what happened to her, her husband, and their 6yo daughter in the family camp in Texas.

Filth, illness, medical abuse—her child has lasting complications from being injured by a staff member.

We don't know the half of what's happening in the camps, but we know enough.

The constant threats took a toll on my health. My daughter’s health deteriorated even faster.

I’m teaching a 1 credit class “America at 250: The Revolution” and the final paper asks students to pick one of the grievances in the declaration and assemble primary sources to tell a story of how the issue has played out since in US history.

Fair to say the students are fired up.

With all due respect...

NO, YOU STUPID FUCKING ASSHOLE, THAT IS NOT WHAT WE WANT. ABOLISH ICE. STOP FUNDING THEM. STOP PLAYING ALONG. THE ENTIRE ORGANIZATION IS ROTTEN, AND YOU HAVE TO STOP BEING COMPLICIT.

Was that clear enough?
Democrats want commonsense reform for ICE:

End the roving patrols and racial profiling.

Take accountability and abide by the same rules as local police.

Masks need to come off, body cameras need to stay on—no secret police in the United States of America.

The next time Trump lashes out at a reporter -- a female reporter, that's who he always picks on -- one of her colleagues should ask the president if he's being irritable because his diaper needs changing.

We would build statues in their honor.
