A lot of people don't understand what constitutes a hostile workplace.

Even *witnessing* someone yelling at someone else is a toxic experience, and it is actionable. People should not have to deal with that while trying to do their job.

if you feel it's messing you up, step away. don't assume it's messing everyone up and you need to eradicate it because you caught a case of the feel-bads from something. go sit with that and think about why instead of pissing in everyone else's cheerios.

I see this a lot in online discourse about adult material or material dealing with dark topics. "But you wouldn't want a kid to read that, would you?" "What if a teenager sees the porn you drew?" "You want to help keep kids safe online, right?"

Of course I want children to be safe online. I fundamentally agree that not all children of all ages should have access to erotic or dark content.

I fundamentally _disagree_ that the responsibility for that lays with the entire internet, and not with parents.

Accusing online creators of NSFW material of being anti-child-safety or worse, simply because they want to have a place where they can share their smut in peace, is a spurious argument.

The responsibility for making sure kids don't access things they shouldn't see lies with their legal guardians

and their educational institutions. It is up to the guardian to decide when a child is old enough to be trusted online with less or no supervision. And until that time, it is their responsibility to monitor their kids interactions online and make sure their experience is safe and appropriate.

This is already true in the offline world. People already agree that it's up to a parent or guardian to accompany their kid places until they're old enough to go on their own. It's already seen as a part of parenthood that you supervise your children, so why is online any different?

All the smut creators I've seen, both visual and written, want proper tools to describe what their works contain so that _anyone_ can make an informed decision on whether they want to interact with that work. They want to give people the tools to choose to interact with them.

One of the more irritating things about some veterans and law-enforcement is that they think they have the most dangerous job in the world. They don't. Farming is more dangerous. So is fishing. Unless you're regularly in combat, it's simply not more dangerous than natural resources careers
