was playing more LBTW, i somehow forgot it has A Maple. really cool especially since it doubles as a callback to Real Maple being in LTTP's gba port

but i ALSO didn't realize gba maple is this like barely edited copy paste of her GBC sprite. my girl deserved better!

any game will break if you throw 100,000 QA testers working 24/7 to break it at it, but people do this for things that aren't discovered until the game is *reverse engineered* by hacking/decomps

if it takes that much effort to find the glitch that sounds like great programming to me!

this isn't steven universe where the gems are your extended family but were being misread as IRL fascists, this is the game outright saying your abusive parent is blood related so you can't disown him. and maybe he isn't that bad and you just need to talk to him and forgive him

(and with good writers, the abuse being obvious to zagreus but his own extended family dismisses it as unimportant has potential!)

the thing is hades shits the bed because at the very end it *literally* says you can't run from your abusers because they're your parents, and this is good actually

i read the first game as unserious in as much as it has a pulpy tone, so characters doing whedon quips and being unconcerned about zagreus' abuse is fine. if anything i think the olympians not giving a shit reinforces moments when zagreus stops and flashbacks to his father's abuse, through contrast

i have a big problem with the most popular backloggd review because i don't at all agree that zagreus' abuse in the first game is "unserious" or "petty", that he's meant to be viewed as just a "rebel"

i just think supergiant are garbage whedonist writers with no understanding of abuse
