Get off social media and do literally anything else. Still socialist. Still buddhist. #YNWA he/him I post mostly about #LFC, music, and U.S. politics, and that last one only because our politicians are shit.

055 & 056. Depeche Mode - Selected songs from the Singles box sets, 1, 2, & 3, released in 1991.

I didn't have much money when these CD box sets came out, but I made room in the budget for them. 😂 These are marked on the #vinyl runout grooves & labels as promo copies. I'll link the songs below.
Alt text by me & Claude large language model: "A black Audio-Technica turntable with a clear dust cover playing a black vinyl record with a yellow and orange gradient label featuring the Sire Records logo. Behind the turntable is a white record sleeve displaying the same yellow and orange label design with the Sire Records 'S' logo, the Reprise logo, and the Mute records logo, and text that reads "Depeche Mode." These are promotional vinyl singles for the Depeche Mode CD box sets released in 1991. The turntable sits on a pale yellow surface against a light purple wall."

Joseph Roberts! He's a good poet. ☺️ I've seen loads of stuff by him, used to follow when I was on Insta.

054. Depeche Mode - Speak & Spell

Maybe the first album I ever got that had a plastic inner sleeve instead of paper. Bought this in probably 82 when it was out, forgot about it after a bit, & then "rediscovered" it a few years later when I was in 9th grade. 😂 I was cool & didn't even know it! 😄
Alt text by me & Claude large language model: "A black Audio-Technica turntable with a clear dust cover sits beneath a black vinyl record with a yellow Sire Records label. Behind the turntable is Depeche Mode's 'Speak & Spell' album cover featuring a dramatic illustration of a large swan inside clear plastic against a vivid orange-red background, perched on a nest of white twigs. The album title and band name appear in small text at the top of the cover beneath pips shaped like a crown. There is a clear sticker on the album cover that reads "Contains Long Versions of 'JUST CAN'T GET ENOUGH' and 'NEW LIFE' SRK 3642." The turntable sits on a white surface against a light blue wall."

I've seen a few versions of him doing this and I stop & watch every one. 😂

053. John Denver - Back Home Again

This is really good. I know the hits here, but the rest of it is really good. A pleasant listen.
Alt text by me & Claude large language model: "A black Audio-Technica turntable with a clear dust cover playing a black vinyl record with an orange label. Behind the turntable is John Denver's 'Back Home Again' album cover featuring a warm beige background with the artist's name and album title in decorative brown lettering at the top. Below is a photograph of Annie & John sitting outdoors in a natural setting. The turntable sits on a white surface against a light purple wall."

052. The Dead Milkmen - Bucky Fellini

Cool canary yellow #vinyl for this reissue. Great collection of songs, from their reinterpretation of the old '70s song "Watching Scotty Grow" to the sweet rolling guitars on "Surfin' Cow" and the goth rebuke "You'll Dance to Anything." 😄
Alt text generated by Claude Large Language Model from the photograph: "A black Audio-Technica turntable with a clear dust cover playing a bright yellow vinyl record. Behind the turntable is The Dead Milkmen's 'Bucky Fellini' album cover featuring a collage-style design on a cream background with the band name in orange bubble letters at the top. The artwork includes various hand-drawn elements like a sun, castle, waves, film strip motifs, and geometric shapes in yellow, orange, red, and blue. The turntable sits on a white surface against a light-colored wall."

Wow, that’s really sad. Now that I think about it, I believe I’ve heard something similar here about American football games. 😔
sodazen.bsky.social
Sounds like you’re going to have a great time. ☺️
sodazen.bsky.social
That sounds perfect! Lunch is generally cheaper. ☺️ Depending on what you want, I’m curious if chip shops or smaller places might be cheaper too?
sodazen.bsky.social
I frickin love walking around grocery stores in other countries!! 😄
sodazen.bsky.social
Yeah, tipping wasn’t really a thing at most places. We’d just pay and they’d give us the receipt and no pen to leave a tip or whatever. 😄 Which, good for them for paying living wages! (We just got back a couple weeks ago, we’re only there for a couple days tho and mostly ate out as well.)

Was gonna say, I follow @footyscran.bsky.social and the prices of stadium food there are sooooo cheap compared to the U.S.!! And I think goods in general. It’s weird, but I wasn’t mad about it. (YMMV on restaurant meals tho)

I like what you post (and have shared some with my kids!) but I also understand not wanting to keep *everything* around. 😄

I’m a pack rat tho so there’s anxiety about deleting everything of mine but I just need to. Nobody cares & the search function isn’t great so I just need to say byebye. 😄
