If you accuse me of wanting to look morally superior when I say a political party or person did something bad, then you're just admitting that I'm right about them doing something bad.

A gift economy would be nice, but that's not the world we live in yet.

It's wild that not being charged with crimes is being used as evidence of a conspiracy. When any actually skeptical person would point out that not everyone who was at J6 was charged with crimes. The next question would be "do you have any evidence of crimes?" And the answer is obviously no.

as I said on hellsite: this has to be the dumbest pretext for targeting political enemies

“I didn’t want to overthrow the election based on things that made me genuinely believe I had to take action to help defend democracy. Some chick in a Trump beanie told me to punch a cop and I just…did it.,,”
post from fascist nutjob andy ngo: New York City Antifa member Talia Jane Ben Ora was at Jan. 6 in a MAGA costume. She was never charged with any crimes that day.

ngo’s post includes two stills with a person circled, the first person wearing a trump beanie and clearly filming with a phone. the second is a person entering a turnstile. ngo’s doing a quote tweet on a post from marjorie taylor greene where she says: “I just reviewed footage from Jan 6th. There was Antifa in the crowd, just like I and many others, always said.
Eye witnesses in the crowd were…”

Things never go back to how they were. I've been trying to tell people this since COVID. There's no going back. The US is not going to be the global superpower anymore. The US system will not survive as it's been. Things are changing. So now we can get to decide ways it changes.

Do you understand how to reply to posts instead of quote posting?
solidarity5ever.bsky.social
The post you quote posted WAS NOT about Marjorie Taylor Greene. The person you quote posted wasn't talking about Marjorie Taylor Greene. So your explanation that you were talking about Marjorie Taylor Greene makes no sense. That's what I meant.

It’s dinner time for the police. Appears to be pizza from a Salvation Army van.

Broadview’s “free speech” curfew starts soon, at 6pm.

I decided to get our 2nd bedroom cleared out so we could start thinking about using it to store dishes and kitchen stuff when we remodel our kitchen in the near future and I made significant progress. You can now walk in the room and the closet can be used to store stuff. Please clap.

Cory Doctorow connects the decay of the internet to the collapse of worker power. When labor lost leverage, platforms stopped worrying about fairness. The result is a digital economy built on extraction.

Yesterday I was told that the class I’m scheduled to teach this month, Confronting Oppression & Injustice, is no longer part of our curriculum. This is a required class yet there was no discussion, no faculty vote, just an email saying the class no longer exists. This is what it’s like in Texas now.

Most atheists aren't proselytizing atheists tho. Most of us have given up on trying to convince people that gods aren't real unless it's explicitly the topic of conversation. And since I used to be involved in atheist activism I can tell you most who are proselytizing are very ignorant about...

There was no post about Marjorie Taylor Greene. Your post made no sense.
solidarity5ever.bsky.social
Since this post is apparently an honest mistake I would advise deleting it. It makes no sense.

work to be maintained, but there's systems that get way more people to be involved and put in effort at much higher rates than this one and that's because they make participation way way easier and directly fruitful. People feel like putting in the work is worth it. This system does the opposite.
solidarity5ever.bsky.social
Humans as a whole will only work as hard as they individually feel they have to. For people that aren't super politically inclined they just trust those around them who are political to tell them how to vote, if they vote at all. It's a division of labor thing. So you're right that democracy needs
solidarity5ever.bsky.social
I really think this is more systemic than personal failings. This system isn't ever going to work, and not just because of screens. Not enough people putting in the effort for this democracy has always been a problem. In fact it was designed so that only privileged white men would participate.

Capitalism sells the idea of endless growth and prosperity, but what most people experience is chaos. Groceries get more expensive, housing is harder to secure, work feels precarious. Wealth piles up at the top while everyone else is left with instability.

In other words you do yell to be noticed, but not ✨JUST✨ for you, and not ✨ONLY✨ you to get noticed. It's to share the good ideas and behaviors. And you should be noticed and praised for doing good things. There's a balance there, of course. But it's good to get positive attention for good things.

In Utah this "trend" never died. And we've seen the very public gay-straight marriages ended in divorce because they were unhappy marriages. They weren't hateful towards each other. I believe them that there was a kind of love but that doesn't mean they were truly partners.

Alaa and her daughters have lived to see a ceasefire, but they are still in dire need of assistance. They have only managed to navigate displacement, genocidal violence, and her daughter's deteriorating health with the help of donations. Let's help them continue to endure.

The internet keeps shrinking. What used to feel open now runs through a few massive platforms that decide what we see and how we talk to each other. They call it innovation, but it’s really enclosure. It's an endless process of taking public space and turning it into property.

don't come with many exact rules. There's no way out of thinking. There's no single path to being a good person or fixing society. There's no such thing as certainty. We're all going to have to get good at accepting that.
solidarity5ever.bsky.social
actually good deeds, and not harmful deeds presenting as good. People who leaned towards anti-racism, anti-patriarchy, etc, and were seeking certainty on exactly how to be anti-racist, feminist, etc started making exact rules to follow. When in reality these are complex social systems that...
