No, really... you NEED to read this if you are going to be in a healthy relationship with someone who is a trans man or is trans masc/non-binary. Or, you find that you lack empathy towards situations you yourself don't understand.

Me, wearing a hoodie with the hood up, to my roommate: Hey, do I look like the Unabomber?
sollizyy.bsky.social
Shoutout to that time I was wearing the hood up on my hoodie, I was around 14/15, walked into the classroom, and my teacher told me to take my hood off bc I "looked like the Unabomber"

transmasc coded characters have been around forever, but are simply rarely acknowledged as such, it just makes me worried that my body of work might not be able to make a dent, after all is said and done, my intent will be lost, idk, I have to try regardless

I do think it's deeply interesting that what is considered the original magical girl anime is an anime about a trans boy

happy birthday to my queer regency rom-com I Shall Never Fall in Love!!!! overwhelmed by how many people have read and enjoyed it in the last year tbh. THANK YOU to everyone who's read, supported, and/or said nice things, it really means the world #books
Photo of me holding the UK version of I Shall Never Fall in Love surrounded by yellow flowers on a sunny day Comic panels from I shall never fall in love. A drawing of a girl in a garden clasping another's hands and saying 'you have excellent marriage prospects'. The next panel zooms out so we can see the rose arch looks like a wedding arch, and the other replies, 'I do?' Comic panels from I shall never fall in love. Two young white people in regency dress dancing very close outside a window, one in an evening dress and the other in a more traditionally masc jacket Comic panel from I shall never fall in love. A drawing of (the same) two people in skirts sitting in a window seat of a fancy room looking towards two girls by the piano. One says 'do you think her more accomplished than me?' and the other replies 'Well.'

SOS
The place I was in before the displacement was completely destroyed
Now homeless and insecure.
I need $800 to pay for transporting my furniture to Gaza and to rent a room for my daughters
Winter is coming and my daughters can't live in tents

Marginalized lead characters. I'm sure this will all tie into my yapping about Mark, I'm not at his chapter yet, but soon I think.

And on a similar note, the general treatment of women in these environments, not just on ship but like the wives of pyrates, actions against them I don't particularly want to talk about are described in this book. So in that sense yeah, pyrate fiction should have women leads, and otherwise-

For his front seat role, but it rly only makes me want to read pyrate fiction written by Black people, at least in this case they can take back the stories of people who were never rly able to tell their own yk?
sollizyy.bsky.social
Black people join their crew, other accounts in this book read as though the pyrates also just treated them as booty like expensive medicine or gold. Which is, yk, very shitty to read about, and for that I don't rly recommend it. So that makes the character of Adéwalé in Black Flag esp interesting-
sollizyy.bsky.social
Bc on one hand, yes these rogues were causing trouble for the British army, and that's what people get behind, a lot of them were outcasts, I see the appeal of exploring the stories of LGBT pyrates--but also a lot of this took place during the slave trade, and while it sounds like some would have-

It's hard to differentiate where the propaganda begins and ends in this book, because on one hand recalling the very romanticized version of Blackbeard in Black Flag vs how wicked his actions are described here (like how he treated his wife esp) puts me in a weird position with pyrate media

I'm making decent speed, 126 pages in. My goal is to get the pyrate books read by the end of this month so I can make this video for November, but no promises.

“If he feels the need to bind all the time, if he cannot be comfortable in his own home, his own bed unbinded, due to your treatment of him and your fixation on his chest, then you need to confront your own attitude on this.”

Haha I am often too detail orientated for my own good, I'm not shocked that it comes out in my writing

Really great dialogue here and as the Trans Mom of the interwebs I am so happy to see this dialogue, I hope other parents read these experiences because its not the same w/ every trans masc kiddo 🥰
sollizyy.bsky.social
Thank you for giving me the idea to do it! I may have more to say about this later but I need to formulate my thoughts on it
sollizyy.bsky.social
And no one has yet, thankfully, but please do not tell me that I don't have to bind, it's not a one size fits all, I personally have to bc I do have a lot of chest dysphoria. I don't want people outside of those I'm very close to seeing me w/o one on
sollizyy.bsky.social
And for that matter, if there was something I failed to cover or something that you want me to expand on, just ask. I don't mind writing more about my experiences/ideas/and giving advice in areas I have experience
sollizyy.bsky.social
If it wasn't obvious from how I handled the discussion in this blog post, you don't *have* to bind, this is simply me talking about it from the experience of having binded my chest almost daily for about a decade
sollizyy.bsky.social
Obviously I'll read the manga too before I talk more in depth, I'll confess I'm pretty early into the anime episodes

I'm going through Princess Knight so far, obviously it's not canon in the anime, but when in every possible moment Sapphire is denying being a girl/hates wearing feminine clothing it's just very 🤔

Hey! You!

Read trans authors!
pairofclaws.bsky.social
On that note:

Trans authors (I mean authors who are trans, NOT cis people who write about trans people), drop your book links here and I'll try to repost as many as I can throughout the day.

Cis people: Repost trans authors' book links.

Cis people who want to complain about being excluded: gtfo

Being a trans author is fucking weird right now. Hell is actively unfolding all around us but I still need to be like, "hey, everyone, wanna buy my silly little queer book? It won't make anything better, but it's kinda fun?"

So....hey, everyone, wanna buy my silly little queer book?
