Americans complaining about Qatar building a base on American soil have got to be tone deaf.
Do they really think that the citizens of all the countries where there are American bases wanted them in their country?
I doubt it. I don’t want American bases in Australia.

I think there's a certain system in place: "if X happens, advice is Y". The problems with the US are now so systemic and widespread, and start before you even land, that the disconnection with reality is seriously poor.
