I guess it should’ve been obvious that putting News Corp and Daily Mail editors in charge of The Age and SMH would lead to the papers eventually just openly campaigning for Hanson

In some ways Labor are worse than the Coalition on climate change. They aren’t ignorant buffoons like their opponents: they know the damage they’re doing, and they do it anyway. This is a great comment regarding the rise of One Nation and rightly cautions on simply dismissing it - it is too simple to call it racist rather it should be recognised for what it could be; disillusioned and disenfranchised people are more susceptible to an ‘easy’ answer #auspol

When I wrote Slick I knew the petroleum industry had a long history of intervening in politics, but I didn't know Ampol helped put Menzies in power and that a staff writer at The Courier Mail helped draft the first press releases in his office at the paper on his day off, which were then syndicated.
