Class is so integral to the way schools are funded in this country, but it's rarely discussed in these terms – so it was a pleasure to have a chat with Richard Denniss on RRR about new findings into our unfair school system

Richard Denniss (The Australia Institute) chats to guest host Nick Feik about Australia's high school problems. Richard Denniss is co-CEO of the Australia Institute. He is a prominent economist, auth...

Spoke to a promising rural high school student today about the prospect of going to University and they were straight up:
'I can't afford it.'
'The fees? Or living out of home?'
'Both.'
It's been a remarkable, bipartisan effort to destroy the pathways people like me took into tertiary study.

“Readers can make up their own minds about what they would like to attend.”
Well said.
A point basically ignored by most of the press in the Adelaide writers fiasco: no-one was MAKING audiences go to Randa’s session. The pro-Israel lobby decided no-one could see her, even if it ruined the festival.

Australia is built on immigration. The economy *still* relies heavily on immigration. New migrants make it better, stronger. Building new housing and infrastructure would help everyone.

Every major political party: We will cut immigration.
Mainstream media: But can you be as racist as Pauline?

On a small scale I, with a group of colleagues, once went to the CEO of a major QLD company to complain about the CIO’s relationship with a consulting firm. We were all fired the next morning and escorted from the premises by security.

Every whistleblower I've ever spoken to believed (correctly) they were doing their public duty, bc others failed.
None wanted to become a "whistleblower".
Yet they're punished by systems designed to destroy them.
Labor promised to protect them but have only tormented them with inaction & gaslighting
After speaking to hundreds of whistleblowers, it's clear our laws are failing them
Since launching Australia's first dedicated whistleblower legal service in 2023, we’ve heard from hundreds of whistleblowers wanting to speak up about corruption, corporate misconduct, human rights ab...

Pretty amazing stuff here in Senates, Wong says she was unaware that the chair of an organisation behind illegal settlements (something Australia is supposed to sanction) entered the country as part of Herzog's delegation.

DFAT eventually say the delegation was handled by PM&C not them.
