The Government is trying to push through changes that will weaken our environment laws.

This is the same Government that changed environment laws to protect the toxic salmon industry, and continues to approve fossil fuels for decades to come.

CPI comes in at 3.8%. Trimmed mean (the preferred measure) is 3.3% - both up from September. Both outside the RBA's 2-3% range, and as expected/forecast by the RBA. It puts paid to any rate cut in December, but should otherwise be steady-as-it-goes.

Cutting public sector jobs in order to save money - about $5.6bn, which isn't nothing - having gone ahead with income tax cuts which gave up $20bn in annual revenues, is exactly the kind of thing I'd expect from a centre-right government.

You might think that this doesn't affect you. Maybe not now.

I have observed how the police have been applying the 'salami technique'. Slice by slice, our rights are being infringed.

Do you think many Americans predicted what is currently happening to them?

A company that really cares about its employees would encourage unionisation; not try to block it. A productive relationship between a company and its staff is something that benefits everyone, long term.

Jeffries would be such a bad choice for President. He gears himself up for the occasional stunt, but can't seem to stand up when it matters.

Today is the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, marking the start of @UN_Women’s 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based violence.

Violence against women is a global crisis. Nearly one in three women will experience physical or sexual violence in their lifetime.

It isn't people wearing burqas who are hiding their faces to get away with crimes. It's the 'white Australia' neo-nazis and PHON-affiliated racists. I know who I feel safer around.

Pauline Hanson was being more overtly racist than usual, today, showing up to the Senate wearing a burqa.

Have you ever wondered why car manufacturers make such a big deal out of how quickly their car can accelerate from 0-100km/h? Can you think of any real-world driving scenario where that's important?
November 23, 2025 at 11:27 PM
We seem hooked on this idea that housing can only be delivered through single-family dwellings on separated blocks of land on the urban fringes or high-rise developments along transport corridors. We assume car-dependency and just ignore the many better alternative schemes.

Rejected a short story submission and the guy wrote me back, "Suck me off, bitches." It is a glamorous life, I tell you.

As Cyclone Fina bears down on Darwin I’m reminded that my paternal grandfather and his brother were caught up in Cyclone Tracey in ‘74. They were stuck in their caravan, which had been blown on its side, trapping them for three days.
