"I could smell the onions and mustard."
Border Patrol agent Lairmore testifies that he was not injured by the sandwich, but he felt the impact through his ballistic vest.

The sandwich came apart and "kind of exploded" on his chest upon impact, he says.

"I could smell the onions and mustard."
Watching the oddest episode of The A Team I've ever seen: from 1986, "Quarterback Sneak"—early in the 5th season when it got weird, but before it was so weird it got canceled. Featuring Joe Namath, John Matuszak, Jim Brown. & an uncredited (on iMDB) Jerry Van Dyke. a dimly remembered different time.

The top 10% are propping up the US economy with their entitled spending, while 90% suffer.
Stock market is inflated by the AI bubble. Top 1% own 1/2 of all stocks. Bottom 50% own 1% of the market.

The pain underlying U.S. GDP numbers goes beyond potential stock market effects
Martin Pelletier: Headline GDP growth appears robust, yet beneath the surface, the picture is far less reassuring

well...they always called him the 5th Beatle—& often the most important one. especially near the end, when they were fighting, hating each other, & A not being in the studio at the same time as B & vice versa. so the creation of studio albums like Abbey Road was a nightmare. George made it a whole.
There's a Beatles Hour on KRVM here in town—every Saturday morning. I caught it last Saturday while in my car—which has a surprisingly awesome stereo system. I was shocked anew at how good some of their later stuff was. that was probably George Martin, really. they talked about the MJ catalog stuff.
the later details that come out are always enlightening, but at a certain point it begins to feel revisionist—as if I'm being told I didn't experience what I thought I experienced—or that I was deceived. & maybe that's so. but the deception was the experience. & that's what I want to remember.
honestly I don't feel that way. I don't feel like most retrospectives do a good job of capturing the zeitgeist of the times. it has always felt to me—especially with a phenomenon like what the Beatles were—that the only important reality of it was what it felt like at the time.
IDK—maybe? I read an unauthorized biography of John—way back when. & had some compendium books about who wrote what when where & why. that sort of thing. movies & other stuff about early & late Beatles, lots of stuff about John's various excursions through Crazytown. not a lot about Paul or Linda.
I think I'll have that engraved on my tombstone
1969. John's 28th birthday? a very chaotic time for the Beatles; it was all falling apart. exploding apart, more accurately. just a few days after Abbey Road was released.
I've noticed something with the headlines & ledes from Le Parisien—a popular French Daily: I wouldn't have noticed it except for its being in French, so I particularly notice the vocabulary & wording used: it all has a characteristic, simple sentence structure, same phraseology, limited vocabulary.
I just looked him up on his Wikipedia page to confirm that he's George's son. I see that his birthday is October 9th. which I'm pretty sure is John Lennon birthday. kind of an eerie coincidence.
something appears to have happened but I can't bear to watch. it all feels like The Empire Strikes Back.

Mar-a-Lago guests at Trump’s Halloween party
you can see #2 staring in amazement at the botox on #5
I just now looked it up & nope narry a word about it here.
it's so tacky. nothing like the real thing. not in style, not in substance.
This is another good example of how the MAGAt mentality thinks they can act in a vacuum & without consequences. they can't anticipate what they don't have the habit of imagining. So Putin moves a chess piece & all of a sudden it's another war by proxy. Maybe it really will be Trump's Vietnam.
the requirements of that stomach have been momentarily assuaged & Riley is—temporarily—at peace.
as in......not dead yet??? he was very reminiscent of Tom Baker's Doctor back in the day.
