Yeah Bush wrote a memo showing undocumented immigrants largely contribute more to the economy than they take specificslly to cool anti-Latino feeling. Yes he started ICE too but at least pretended to care and didnt want a civil war. MAGA WANTS to stoke a race war.

I forgot about that! Shrub did talk out of both sides of his mouth about racism - eg on the one hand saying islamophobia is wrong, on the other encouraging it - but at least he pretended to care. And said all the right things sometimes to keep a veneer of civility.

Yes. And you can see from movies that the culture had been crueler and had been getting better. I was watching a Halloween movie. The casual sexism was shocking and it was only from the 80s. It had gotten better by the time of Scream. And now its worse than the 80s. Sigh.

Yeah I agree. I would say that sense of "if I suffer I'm better than you" is probably caused by/highly influenced by the radioactive cloud of Calvinism that permeates even secular American culture. You dont have to have ever gone to church to be influenced by it.

I think its probably that everyone is right. It IS smarphone short form video and it IS COVID zoom school and it IS trauma and it IS individualistic culture running headlong into capitalism at 100 mph and it IS biological etc.

Also I saw a study that said that everyone has brain damage from the pandemic, for lack of a better way to say it. Even if they never had COVID, they had trauma, and the symptoms of COVID brain stem damage and PTSD arent so different, turns out. And thats whats wrong with these kids: trauma.

Lets be real, zoom school was only forced nationwide for like three months. By fall, many schools had in person classes. And some were zoom til 2023. But that doesnt seem to correlate to how they recover. I mean, TX schools arent higher than CA despite opening sooner so clearly zoom school wasnt it.

I think this is it more than near 20 year old technology. The first iPhone was 2007. The first big social with pics was MySpace the same year. Hell even if you want to go to like Twitter or something you're still more than ten years back. This isnt NEW anymore.

Yeah I agree with this cuz there's actual evidence for it. Everyone's brains got fucked from COVID or trauma or both. That is a fact. Now, think about how bad it is for you, an adult who should have coping mechanisms or at least life-and-death reasons to pretend. How much do you actually retain?

Personally I'd blame brain damage from COVID and trauma from the pandemic. There's actual evidence for those being factors.
