If you're weird, I automatically like you.

Autistic advocacy isn’t about awareness.

It’s about changing conditions.

Unmasking, surviving, naming needs without apology.

That’s advocacy.

Somewhere right now, someone is hearing their favorite song for the very first time. That’s the magic of music — always brand new to somebody.

Me: I really liked that song, let me listen to it another 40 times in a row.

Happy 77th birthday to Jackson Browne — the poet of the open road. From “Running on Empty” to “These Days,” his songs made every highway feel like a heartbeat and every lyric sound like a memory.
Iconic.

Autistic humans speak.

We say what we mean.

Clearly.

And still - people don’t hear us.

Not because we’re quiet.

But because they only listen for a tone that sounds like them.

So we get quieter.

Not out of shyness.

Out of exhaustion.

Out of apathy.

Most of us were never taught to know our needs.

We were taught to hide them.

To be adaptable (while ironically being called stubborn)

To survive by silence.

But autistic needs aren’t optional.

They’re sacred.

They’re the blueprint of how we stay alive.

Naming them isn’t selfish.

Most people think autistic burnout is just exhaustion.

It’s not.

It’s years of masking, unmet needs, and contradictions your body can’t hold anymore.

It’s what happens when survival becomes your baseline.

You don’t “push through” burnout - you rebuild from it.

Performance is not connection.

Relationships only can exist in truth.

You weren’t lazy.

You were exhausted.

You weren’t unmotivated.

You were in burnout.

You weren’t “too sensitive".

You were under-supported.

Now you’re rebuilding.

At your own pace.

And that’s beautiful.

That's the autistic experience.

The solution to homelessness is not forced institutionalizations.

It’s social supports. Healthcare. Housing. Education. Harm reduction. A universal basic income.

Anyone can become homeless at any time. It’s not a personal failing.

We must fix it together.
