I finished the wimshurst machine. Now i just gotta get it to run

The finished 3d printable Wimshurst machine. You can see the nice copper sectors on the discs (only the front disc is visible) that create a bunch of capacitors to the back disc. Because the discs are counter rotating the capacitance between the discs rises and falls. When you got a capacitor charged and you move the plates apart the capacitance gets lower. Since you put work in and you got a set charge the voltage rises. Since one side affects the other it's owlso called influence machine. It seperates and amplifies charges by mechanical turning of the discs and creates several kilovolts of static electricity that way.

Sooo uhm… i’m designing a wimshurst machine that can be 3d printed. I was bored and i got annoyed that there weren’t any files online yet.

I’m designing a 3d printable version from scratch since i got annoyed that there are no files available online yet. I’m owlmost finished with the design. Just gotta design one more part and print it twice and add some aluminium tape to the rotors.

This is basicly just a rechargable low power negative ion generator. You can use it to electrostaticly charge something or to pull dust out if the air or make the room smell fresh through the trace amounts of Ozone this produces.

A thrown together rechargable negative ion generator with a homemade on/off switch made from a syringe, some copper tape, some melamin foam, super glue and medical tape.

Did you ever build a switch out of medical supplies and copper tape as an offering to the gods of chaos so they give you access again to the entire bag of switches you lost somewhere on your desk? No?… only me?…

A small ups for a project that needs a switch to work properly. I couldn’t find any switches so i built a switch from medical supplies and copper tape. A 10ml syringe, some copper tape, some solder, a bit of melamin foam, medical tape and superglue

SOUND ON FOR WOLF HOWLS- old footage but a favourite. This was when Sansa was still with us and she often led the charge in a pack howl. Sadly she died of cancer at the end of last year and the place feels quieter without her now.
