i think it's because a large appeal of pokemon is battling other players and the framing device goes out the window when it comes to that. for entirely obvious reasons

there's a surprising amount of pokemon fans who don't really view the main campaign of a pokemon game within the same gameplay and story pacing framework as a traditional jrpg despite most of the mainline games falling pretty cleanly into that. and i'm not entirely sure why?

also regarding the "not enough cameos" bit it's really funny to me when you can tell that a dc fan is live-action only because the things the finale set up alone were worth the watch, putting aside the stellar character work 😭😭

so far the biggest complaint about peacemaker s2's finale is not enough cameos and not enough action and that signifies to me that the show did its job well
