Do you understand what the word "few" means?
Probably not.
stevenphillips7.bsky.social
It was just a question. Glad you've retracted your claim that all our taxes have gone up 👍
stevenphillips7.bsky.social
Actually, my income tax, national insurance and VAT are unchanged, as promised by Labour. Perhaps you're complaining because you now have to pay VAT on private school fees? 🤔
stevenphillips7.bsky.social
Nonsense. After 14 years of Tory chaos, Labour needs time to put things right. They won't be worried that a few left wing snowflakes have given up already and jumped ship.

Return to the Single Market would mean free movement and full compliance with EU rules with no say. You and I might support that, but I can guarantee it wouldn't be popular across the country.
stevenphillips7.bsky.social
"just as bad as Farage"? You are joking, surely? 🙄

Anyone have the equivalent figures for the UK? #TaxTheRich
rbreich.bsky.social
The 400 richest Americans are now worth a record $6.6 trillion.

The entire bottom 50% of America is worth just $4.2 trillion.

Read that back.

When 400 people control more wealth than half a country’s population, we have a very serious problem.

Some people don’t fully understand how much life changed for us between 1900 and 2000.

First plane flight and moon landing are only 66 years apart 🤯

#Reform voters. Your idol Nigel Farage did this. It's his mess. He lied to you in 2016 and he's lying to you now. Never trust this man.

UK travellers should expect "four-hour queues" as new EU border system comes into force. Brexit really is the gift that keeps giving

Quite a shock. What a wonderful actor she was. 79 is no age. Very sad. #RIP 😔

Diane Keaton has passed away at the age of 79

If you can't see the change, and the difference from the Tory years, then by all means take your vote elsewhere. We'll stay and fight off Reform without you.
stevenphillips7.bsky.social
They also won on a platform of 'change'. I'm angry at some of the mistakes they've made so far, but I'm keeping the faith and I'm hopeful we will see real change after 5 years. My vote here may also not stop Reform, but spreading a positive message might help.
stevenphillips7.bsky.social
Of course. We're all entitled to our own views. Just bear in mind that probably only Labour can prevent a Reform win at the next election.
stevenphillips7.bsky.social
Actually, their achievements so far include the complete reversal of several Tory policies!
Labour achievements, so far

Pragmatic not defeatist. Many on here just live in their own fantasy version of reality.
stevenphillips7.bsky.social
They are not a centre right party. A ' broader church', yes, but Labour's mainstream is still left of centre.
stevenphillips7.bsky.social
Sorry, but in the current political climate, such a man just doesn't exist...because it's an impossible task.
stevenphillips7.bsky.social
I think we have to accept we're both in the minority on FOM. Businesses were useless in arguing the Remain case in 2016. No reason to believe they'd be any better backing a rejoin campaign.
stevenphillips7.bsky.social
He has to try to make Brexit work. There's no other viable option. Another referendum? Nobody wants that? Join SM & CU? Free movement & rule taking will not be popular. Farage, Johnson & all caused the damage. I'm afraid it's damage limitation for the foreseeable future.
stevenphillips7.bsky.social
"Asking to rejoin the SM and CU". That would require the return of free movement & "rule taking" by the UK. You & I might see that as worth it, but imagine the uproar from RW parties, the media & a sizeable part of the electorate. Also, It wasn't in Labour's manifesto. It would be political suicide.
stevenphillips7.bsky.social
Absolutely the rich should be taxed properly & I hope the Govt takes action on that in Nov. I don't accept that desperately sick people were being targeted. Fact is that UK has one of the highest reported rates of working-age people out of work due to ill health in Western Europe. It's unsustainable
stevenphillips7.bsky.social
We have to ensure that those who really need welfare are receiving it. If we can eliminate the dubious claims and get the economy growing we can afford to pay more to those who really need it......2/2
stevenphillips7.bsky.social
"going after the sick and disabled" is harsh. Governments have to balance welfare and the economy. It ain't easy. Fact is that welfare costs are spiralling unsustainably at a time when other factors like falling rate of smoking & end of pandemic suggest we shouldn't be getting unhealthier.....1/2
