Laika was a stray dog who became the first living animal to orbit the Earth aboard the spacecraft Sputnik 2 on Nov 3, 1957. The mission was a one-way trip, and she died from hyperthermia and stress between five and seven hours into the flight, due to a malfunction in the cabin's temp control system.

Krupp K5 heavy railway gun.

This gun had the following characteristics: It weighed 218 tons and was capable of firing shells weighing 243 kg. Its range was 64 kilometers. The gun had a rate of fire of 15 rounds per hour. Only 25 Krupp K5s were produced, and two survived the war.
