Sorry to hear of the death of the wonderful #DianeKeaton. She made her screen debut in Lovers and Other Strangers (1970), before rising to prominence with her 1st major film role as Kay Adams-Corleone in The Godfather (1972), a role she reprised in its sequels Part II (1974) and Part III (1990).

Remembering the wonderful #JeanAlexander, born 11 Oct 1926. She was best known to TV viewers for her long running role of Hilda Ogden in Coronation Street, a role she played from 1964 until 1987. In 1984, 100s of fans sent her condolence cards after the death of her on-screen husband Stan Ogden.

So sorry to hear of the death of John Lodge of the Moody Blues yesterday. I loved the Moodies and all their albums - especially "On The Threshold of a Dream". John, like me, hailed from Birmingham, as did most of the members of the Moodies. You'll be missed John. #JohnLodge

Happy birthday to Kirsty MacColl. Her debut solo single "They Don't Know", released in 1979, peaked at no 2 on the Music Week chart. However, a distributors' strike stopped copies of the single getting into record shops. She died, aged just 40, after being hit by a speedboat. #KirstyMacColl

To that question, I always proffer "The Singing Nun" who had a hit in 1963, with "Dominique". The song was a worldwide hit, topping charts in many countries, including the US where it became the #1 Christmas single in 1963. Sadly I don't know The Singing Nun's real name!

9 Oct 1969, for the 1st time in the history of the show, the BBC’s Top Of The Pops producers refused to air the No. 1 song, ‘Je T’aime... Moi Non Plus’, the erotic French language love song by Serge Gainsbourg & Jane Birkin. The song had the voices of Gainsbourg and Birkin apparently making love.

9 Oct 1976, The #SexPistols signed to EMI records for £40,000. The contract was terminated 3 months later with the label stopping production of the 'Anarchy In The UK' single. EMI later issued a statement saying it felt unable to promote The Sex Pistols records in view of their adverse publicity.
