Stinky Pinky was a not nice name that my older brother and sister teased me with. I remember crying about it in the way way back of the wood paneled station wagon before anyone cared about car seats and seat belts. Now I find it hilarious and my older brother and sister are very nice to me.

I have started to donate money to the Feeding America charity. Well, I have for decades but I'm upping my donation to a much higher level right now. Push this post along so others can help this organization.

It’s already happened. We went from $1050 a month to $2700 for a silver plan. The Bronze plan is $2200.

(1/2) To those in NY-14 and beyond with family and loved ones in Jamaica, we stand with you in this moment of uncertainty.

We are wishing the people of Jamaica safety and strength as Hurricane Melissa makes landfall.

The government of Jamaica has set up a portal for contributing to official relief efforts. I will update this thread if anything analogous opens up for Haiti, Cuba, or the DR

I am interested in starting to hear from care workers on SNAP about your concerns. I'm @motherjones.com's disability reporter. Please be in touch. My email is [email protected] and my Signal is juliametraux.49. Reposts are appreciated.
Yep, $46K for my spouse and myself - for a Bronze plan.
Better to get catastrophic health insurance than nothing. Major health care debt could saddle you for life.
I will gladly take a one year extension and then have time to keep working on this.
Massive people dropping out of the insurance pool impacts the cost of insurance for everyone who retains coverage.
Only 4% had a great deal of confidence in congress. 4%.
Depends on the employer. My previous hospital job offered benefits at 50% time but then changed it so you had to work 72 hours. A lot of people lost their insurance.
Many people qualify because of their dependents.
Thank you Wesley for sharing your experience. That is really hard.
so technically it is possible to work two full-time jobs.
The people I know working two jobs are working six to seven days a week for most of the day AND they still require SNAP benefits to feed their families. Some people I imagine have a second job as a gig worker (food delivery and ride shares). Also, many jobs are not 9 to 5,
Yep. Exactly. So, how do you coordinate TWO jobs with shifting schedules along with childcare, which often requires a set schedule? Plus, with Head Start programs losing funding, how are people even supposed to pay for chid care?
Oh and potentially an extra $10K if I get sick and $16K if both my spouse and I get sick. So that is a bottom line annual outlay of $26K and potentially up to $42K but if I do get sick and I can’t work, I won’t be able to pay for the insurance since I am self-employed.
Yes, I have to pay $1200 more each month to go down to the Bronze plan and $1700 more to keep my current plan.
