In MO-02, Ann Wagner is raising costs on 50,755 Missourians. #GOPShutdown

Once again Republicans show how terrified they are of answering to voters.

Whether it's hiding and never holding town halls, drawing maps to silence us, or trying to sue to remove our Constitutionally enshrined rights, there is no bar so low they won't try to crawl under.

We will not be silenced!

MO AG Catherine Hanaway has filed a federal lawsuit contending that opponents of a new redistricting plan cannot put the map up for a statewide vote.

If Hanaway is successful, it could stymie GOP efforts in Utah to put a more Democratic-leaning map up for a statewide vote.

Missourians support legal abortion. And this week, once again, MO courts recognize legal abortion.

The Western District Court of Appeals rejected the Attorney General’s attempt to reinstate an abortion ban in a unanimous decision. And in 2026, Missourians will vote to keep abortion legal. (1/3)
Image Description: A graphic divided into three sections with multi-colored gradients over photos corresponding to the statements on each. They read in all-caps text, “Missourians support legal abortion. Missouri courts recognize legal abortion. And in 2026, Missourians will vote to keep abortion legal.” “Support..abortion,” “recognize…abortion,” and “will vote…legal,” are in black with white highlighting while the rest of the text is in white. A recent Missouri Independent headline sits next to the court statement reading, “Missouri appeals court rules against attorney general, allows abortions to continue”. A white AAM logo sits in the lower left corner.

Republicans like Ann Wagner make a lot of noise about protecting programs like WIC, but when it comes time to do the work, she's nowhere to be found.

Democrats are stepping up to make sure that even while Republicans keep government closed, people are protected.

House Democrats, led by Reps. Bobby Scott (VA) and Suzanne Bonamici (OR), seek to introduce the WIC Benefits Protection Act to ensure WIC funding is secure, even during government shutdowns, by making the program mandatory.

Even as Missourians regain our rights in the courts, Republicans are trying to trick us into giving them up.

We will always stand up for all Missourians rights, whether it's helping pass Amendment 3 last year, fighting Republicans in Jefferson City to protect it, or opposing Amendment 3 next year.

They don't even have a concept of a strategy.

Democrats have been working to get the government open and protect Americans from Trump's massive health insurance premium hikes for weeks. Republicans need to step up and join us.

Last night in Chicago, Vice President Kamala Harris just gave me the pep talk and advice I never knew I needed. 🥹

Our generation is ready to lead and I couldn’t be more grateful for her passion for our country and the trail she’s blazed through for all of us.

Not only are the RIFs malicious, an action that can lead to thousands of wrongful termination lawsuits, but they are expressly illegal.

Several years back Congress passed a law banning reductions in force during a government shutdown. Every single one of those workers' jobs is protected by law

During my visit to a People’s Health Center, I spoke with families who rely on the WIC program for healthy meals. The Republican-led shutdown is jeopardizing essential nutrition support for mothers & kids across MO. Congress must act now to reopen the gov’t and ensure programs like WIC are funded.

It’s deja vu, and the worst of its kind!

These creeps want to control who gets access to abortion care and who doesn’t. Missourians won’t stand for this. Take Abortion Action with us to fight back against corrupt politicians and protect our reproductive freedom: bit.ly/AAM-Join
Image Description: Over a black and red textured gradient background is a quote from Mallory Schwarz, AAM executive director, in all-caps black and white text (also included in the caption) from a recent Jezebel article titled, “Missouri’s New Atin-Abortion AG Wasted No Time Harassing Planned Parenthood”. The section of the quote, “carry on….medical records,” is black text highlighted in white. A black and white photo collage in the lower half depicts AG Catherine Hanaway reaching for a stack of files and a Planned Parenthood clinic in the background alongside the Jezebel headline. Republicans want to double your healthcare costs.

Republicans want to rip healthcare away from 15 million people.

Republicans want to give their billionaire donors handouts at your expense.

And they’re lying about it every chance they get.

Thanks to Republicans gutting Obamacare, the average annual health-insurance premium for the 22M Americans covered will increase 114% starting January 1, $888 to $1,904. And will triple, quadruple, almost quintuple for the neediest in 10 super-GOP states.

Dems are playing hardball to stop that.

Republicans know Missourians don't support their policies so instead of simple, direct ballot measures, they lie to Missouri voters.

We are not going to stand by and let them. Regardless of what the courts decide, we will be working hard to make sure Missourians undersand what's on the ballot.

The government is shut down because Trump and the Republicans are hellbent on taking health care away from you.

And they won’t even come to the table to talk to us about it.

This is not about politics. It's about people.

Let’s break it down:

Let me be clear: It’s ILLEGAL to deny federal workers back pay after a shutdown.

There’s a 2019 law that guarantees it, but Trump is once again trying to break the law.

You don’t get to punish people for doing their jobs just because you’re failing at yours.

It’s Day 6 of the government shutdown, and Republicans in Congress still have no plan in place to evade health care costs skyrocketing at the end of this year. I’m staying in the fight with House Dems. In the meantime, please check my website for resources on the government shutdown: bell.house.gov
Government Shutdown: What You Need to Know
I know many people are worried about this government shutdown. I am doing everything I can to push for a bipartisan solution to end this crisis as quickly as possible. Families in St. Louis and across the country should not have to carry the burden of Washington gridlock.
