Musing on life’s impermanence, the joy of pen and ink, and the discipline of thought, I write to reflect, not escape—seeking clarity, not certainty. Join me where words meet wisdom and quiet pens speak loud truths. #Stoic #Humanist #Buddhism #FountainPens #Poet
Day by day we try—
compassion our compass true,
peace begins within.
Guided by compassion and wisdom, all we can do is try to do good for oneself & good for others. The world is not perfect, go easy & take it day by day, moment by moment. Be your own best friend.

Don’t take it from me, listen to Snopes! Speaker Johnson signed a bill to cut $186 billion from SNAP. And again, it’s HIS party that won’t help millions of Americans put food on the table this month.

Users shared this true claim amid uncertainty regarding whether Americans would receive federal food benefits during the 2025 government shutdown.

The video’s spirit is uplifting but dated. Most active 70–80-year-olds meet those benchmarks. At 77, I can tell you—we’re not one-in-a-million but part of a new generation redefining aging: capable, curious, creative, and wise, proving that vitality & meaning never retire.

Check out this deep dive from The Hartmann Report on how the fight for “Healthcare for All” isn’t just about politics — it’s about survival, dignity and whether America values life over profit. It might just be the galvanizing issue the country needs right now.

BTW, we fountain pen aficionados often refer to ourselves as 'stylophiles'. There are several major pen shows each year, as well as very active online forums / videos, and in person gatherings. It's very easy to get drawn down the rabbit hole, as witness the pictured part-collection!
I too was subjected to a couple of years of Latin—love your quote BTW. Some of us dared to scribble the prefix "Tor" on the cover of our copies of the Colebourn's exercise book "Mentor", a companion to Civis Romanus.
Of course—there's a thriving worldwide fountain pen community. The global market size was approx $914 million in 2024, projected to reach $1 billion by 2031, a CAGR of 2.3%.
I still have and occasionally use the Parker 51 fountain pen that I was gifted in 1959 after passing the UK's "11 Plus".
Marcus Aurelius said, “It is not death that a man should fear, but he should fear never beginning to live.” The tragedy isn’t dying—it’s not living fully. Don’t postpone joy or purpose. Take one step today toward truly living.

We “fall back” today—
one gift hour wrapped in fatigue.
Sleep stumbles, not soothes;
our hearts and clocks out of sync,
the body pays for man’s whim.

We “gain” an hour’s rest—
the lie we gladly believe.
Morning feels kinder,
yet darkness comes creeping fast—
a trade the body still pays.

A glimpse into my little sanctuary of ink and craftsmanship — storage for some of my fountain pens. Neatly tucked away in this wooden chest, they are ready for the next bout of journaling or poetic mischief. Each drawer holds a story in ink, each pen a companion in reflection. #FountainPens

In times of political turmoil, our fears and thoughts can unsettle us. The Stoics remind us: ‘Men are disturbed not by things, but by their opinions about them.’ Find courage to stand calmly, speak truth, and unite in peaceful protest—turning fear into wisdom and action. #Stoicism

I couldn't let this week go without reviewing HOUSE OF DYNAMITE — which gets right to me the four core principles of nuclear thrillers. Most of all it should serve as a reminder why Trump's nuclear threats this week are so dangerous: www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/trump-s-od...
Trump’s Odd Nuclear Threat and America’s House of Dynamite
Almost nothing about Trump's latest nuke tweet is correct. Plus what Netflix's HOUSE OF DYNAMITE gets right about nuclear war.

Private equity gave $10M to Trump's inauguration. He gave them greater access to Americans' 401(k)s.

DuPont and Dow Chemical gave $750K. Trump exempted them from an air pollution rule.

Intuit gave $1M. Trump killed the IRS Direct File Program.

Everything is for sale.
