We've got a new developer update for the IL-2 Great Battles Series and this one is focused on the work being done by third-party Finnish map team KarttaKomppania (if you want a refresher, check out my Q&A with the group). Their work on the Finnish Gulf map is a big piece of the Siege and Liberation update and we've go an official update on the latest efforts.

This Friday's DCS World update was a small one with the biggest news being focused around development work on DCS: Kola. Let's have a look at what's in store for that map. For a long time now I've been desperately hoping for Microsoft Flight Simulator to pick up some more turboprop airliners. This is an under-served category featuring the ATR 42/72-600, the Saab 340, Dash 7 by Pilots and the freeware Fokker F27. That's about it (let me know if I've missed one). We've got a great status update coming to us from A2A Simulations. The Aerostar 600 is moving out of early access thanks to the 1.0.0 update which has just come out. The team have also confirmed that a MSFS 2020 version of the aircraft is now planned. Early access ended and 2020 release confirmed A2A has confirmed that the latest version 1.0.0 release of their Aerostar 600 product has officially ended their early access release plans.

The latest update for IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles Series is 6.003 and it comes with a short list of fixes plus some new content. IL-2 Sturmovik: Odessa and Leningrad - Siege and Liberation owners will gain access to the Bf109E-4 and Ju87D-5 in this latest update. Plus, Battle of Normandy owners can take advantage of a new Me410-focused night bomber and night fighter campaign.

X-Plane 12 focused developer ToLiss have just released their latest Airbus product for that simulator platform. Last week we were surprised with the release of World Update 20: Japan and the launch of the new iniBuilds developed classic turboprop airliner the NAMC YS-11. I've been putting the aircraft through its paces and I wanted to share a particularly fun flight I did in it. Classic airliner experience (mostly) I've done nearly a half dozen different hops around the world with the YS-11 but most of them have been in Japan and up until this flight I was using one of several available GPS add-ons to navigate and complete the flight.
