Like you can say the likes of Sophie Corcoran have been taken advantage of, but she does still make the decision to say the most diabolically nasty things possible at every given opportunity and no one is forcing her to do that.

Not sure where I land on this because it IS exploitative but I don't think "passionate and young" is an excuse because it really wasn't so long ago that these people were my contemporaries and it was clear to me at the time both how disgraceful they were behaving and how obvious it would pan out.

I do think there should be a conversation about how the media picks up passionate young people, gives them a spotlight and lots of abuse, and then throws them away when no longer useful

When I was involved in uni Cons stuff, the BBC were sniffing around for what became a documentary "Young, Bright and on the Right". The only people who had the self-awareness to not come off terribly also had the awareness to know they would get stitched up, so only the weirdest got involved.
