after much tomfoolery and blindly figuring out a lot of stuff on the way, i managed to clean up the wiring of my home network, set up a proxmox server on my old pc, and got some containers running with portainer including a proof of concept jellyfin server. i am now part of the problem

at this point there's barely much of a point in actually having a separate router (which i only got to actually be able to change network settings) and i should just get a single decent device or something...

some shitty ISP provided modem+router that i have just in bridge mode going into a pretty basic tp link archer a6. to be fair, im less worried about the former than i am the latter, because i dont know what kind of fuckass shit those ISP provided things have in them

how easy is it to rip out a modem and router's internals and mount them onto something new? i hate how my home networking setup is just awkwardly sized boxes of varying shapes and i wanna just get some acrylic, standoffs, and screws and go to town on a custom housing
