Civil rights passed via laws, and represented popular will. They are being dismantled by administrative action. The courts that say that administrators can undermine Congress and statute are letting it happen, because they are also all in on the same project.
During his second term, President Trump has upended 60 years of civil rights, largely under the guise of attacking DEI. On "The Daily," our reporter discusses the growing fears of what a post-civil rights government will mean for Black Americans.
How Trump Upended 60 Years of Civil Rights
The White House’s assault on federal protections may bring about a new era of unchecked discrimination.

The Trump Administration has spent months wrecking the resources California needs to forecast and respond to floods and winter storms.

Via the Water Resources Department, we're coordinating with local agencies on response protocol and carrying out $2B+ in flood prevention projects across our state.

Seeing the White House torn apart is really emblematic of the times we’re in

The Trump movement insists on public memorials to traitors who led armies that killed Americans by hundreds of thousands, all to preserve slavery with its profound horrors. But the rich history of our White House and its visitors is demolished by an excavator, with no discussion, in a shutdown
Everything that he's doing to destroy the history and tradition for the White House and grounds is really killing me. My dad was a guest at the WH, stayed at Blair House at a President's invitation several times. His stories of the place and its beauty are fondest of memories.

What controls do we have to prevent installation of listening devices?

Judge Graber, who is no firebrand, wrote quite a dissent—encouraging en banc review and some patience on the part of the public:
We are in a government shutdown for crying out loud

Trump literally wrecking the White House. I have seen no public discussion of the plans or funding, and I don't believe there is any law passed for this project. Just some reporting on what people in the WH tell teporters

NYT economics reporter writing about healthcare and ACA is completely ignorant about the law and its history. Prime example of how broken the paper is #UnsubscribeNYT #CancelNYT
The ACA was gutted by Democrats. you can argue those key democrats could've been sidin with what many see as the more liberal/patient centered options. or you could say it was unfortunate that Dems didnt have 60+ more liberal senators.

but it was Democrats.
He doesn't like the ACA

This week's Amicus podcast is a terrific conversation with @janainelson.bsky.social about the Voting Rights Act case she argued this past week at SCOTUS. It's not loading for everyone and we're getting it fixed. Stay tuned and apologies from this end.
It's very asymmetric. They were happy to cover comma-gate for Biden shortly before the election with skepticism of a good explanation
