I have tremendously little for patience for Cuban. The best thing you can say about his tenure is that he cared about his team and spent on success. You can say A LOT of bad things about his tenure, starting with the hostile workplace allegations that he totally passed the buck on.

Right. There's just zero evidence via outside sponsorships that there's anything sideways about the extension other than the fact he took less than the max, which is exactly what Dirk did for Cuban.

This is grossest thing about Cuban defending Ballmer while being cute about whether he believes the Knicks tampered with Brunson. The Knicks had a familial advantage of course, but in the end they simply paid JB what Cuban originally would not.

amid the current chatter about whether the Knicks circumvented the salary cap to sign Jalen Brunson away from Dallas, it’s important to remind everybody that the move was panned by pundits at the time and plenty of experts thought New York foolishly OVERPAID for JB

Wrote about the plausible next evolutions of the Thunder: Shai becoming the Best Player Alive, the best Big 3 since the Heatles, or a '15-16 Warriors-ish regular season run? www.teamziller.com/thunder-shai...
What's in it for the Thunder?
Oklahoma City didn't have the cleanest run to the title, but they got it. What now? Good morning. Let's basketball.

My basketball writing legacy:

- I named the Derrick Rose rule
- I popularized the concept of "Lakers exceptionalism"
- I reminded everyone once a year that the NBA spent eight months testing Smoothie King's products before letting the Pels name their arena Smoothie King Center

The NBA: "we can't possibly review all these nine figure sponsorship deals to prevent cap circumvention or embarrassment"

Also the NBA: [investigates Smoothie King for 8 months before signing off on New Orleans arena naming deal] www.teamziller.com/adam-silver-...
The NBA's scrutiny double standards
Adam Silver claims the NBA can't be expected to vet all major sponsors. And yet when the league wants to look deeper before signing off, it does. Good morning. Let's basketball.

Sometimes normies get it right, and Firebird Suite and The Planets being hugely popular among normies are the two best examples of that in classical

I also wrote a blurb on Peacock's NBA premiere. Scorebug: good. Halftime chat: refreshing. Melo's fashion: absolutely impeccable (as if you'd expect anything less).

According to eyewitnesses, armed ICE agents dragged kids out of their beds in the middle of the night, zip tied them and put them in rented vans while raiding an * entire apartment building* on the South Side of Chicago.

Other than health, the biggest hurdles will certainly be Poole measuring up to McCollum, a young and unproven supporting cast stepping up and (of course) team defense. Zion, Trey and Herb (if healthy) are going to be awesome. The rest is guesswork. But it could turn out well!

Wrote up my preseason MVP longlist. There are four obvious options, a few more dark horses and some ... uh, darker horses. www.teamziller.com/nba-mvp-pres...

My cure to the male loneliness epidemic is to take away every boy’s phone and young man’s phone, then force them to get together to play Goldeneye and Mario Party in a basement for hours on end. Bingo bango, problem solved.

"The sheer number of American elites willing to acquiesce to the destruction of democratic institutions is demoralizing. But it’s worth noting that many ordinary people seem to be made of sterner stuff."
