There's just no way the guys in that place and time were that breathy in their vocalizations. Just out of sheer habit, they would have sounded more like Kentucky Derby announcers - because especially when you're dealing with distortion over vast distances, you don't want to drop words.

Working on a project of my own, I learned that the "radio accent" and the big diaphragm use that people in the test pilot community were known for was functional. Radio sucked, microphones sucked, and you needed to slam consonants and stretch vowels to keep them audible through interference.

Hard lesson from someone struggling to folks about to be:

NO ONE will help you if you dont ask.

No company or landlord will ease up if you dont make a big public fuss.

Politeness & shame are tools those with social power use to get away with abuse, neglect & killing folks.

Get loud. Demand life.

Honestly, everyone who considers themself a leftist should be part of the mutual aid community. Whether you're giving, boosting, or making sure an emergency doesn't have a chance to turn into an eviction.

A big thing about people who think like this is that they don’t realize: learning how to be happy for other people is a HUGE step in the direction of learning how to be happy for yourself.

How that would help me? Because I already do that but the fact that I have nothing to celebrate myself make me just bitter in return
