Slade pre-Shalde and, as Dave says, less shouty that the later version. Still finding their feet.

235/365 Slade 'In Flame'

A bit less raucous than I'd usually expect from these, but that's in line with its reputation and reception at the time.
Possibly not the obvious starter in the context of the rest of their catalogue, but one that I liked a lot.

Definitely had some tunes but the same chuntering synth was a bit annoying after a while. Good songs though.

234/365 Erasure 'The Innocents'

My dad quite likes them, in an old person's 'got the greatest hits in the car' way, so knew the singles here.
'A Little Respect' is one of the great album openers and is so good that even Wheatus couldn't ruin it.
Similar to the Pet Shop Boys one - good likeable pop.

This is lovely. Really memorable songs. Will be looking for more. I'm getting a lot out of this experiment.

I wonder if I'll like the next album...

233/365 Julia Jacklin ‘Crushing’

Her name has come up a few times recently and from what was being said I thought I’d quite like her.
I’m a sucker for an indie-pop-ish sound with a female vocal, and this spot on.
Fantastic lyrics, great voice, excellent tunes. Definitely going to seek out more.

The album stuff aside, I’m coming off here for a bit. The right wing stuff and the Diogo stuff is really getting to me. A bit of self-care.

Karl Coppack. Liverpool fan from years ago. Ended up writing a book with Sach Nakrani. You termed me a ‘serial complainer’!

Ah, but the heart was younger and spikier. Life moves on. Congratulations on your stance.

This is excellent. I'm so down about the reaction to even mentioning that this might be a factor that I'm honestly questioning what I'm doing being part of a support anymore.

The second Talksport person who's surprised me this week.

Liverpool go to work and Diogo Jota is not there. Why wouldn’t that affect them? | Max Rushden
We know so little about players’ personal feelings. It means everyone’s analysis of the game is fundamentally superficial

I lost a fair bit of sweat to Info Freako as a younger man.

Always liked them and this brought back some memories.

232/365 Jesus Jones ‘Doubt’

Knew a few of the singles from this, but no more than that. Know it a lot better now, because as soon as it finished I put it on again.
Dancey and rocky in all the right places, definitely planning to give some of their other stuff a listen to see how it compares.

Anyone really, really, really, really fancy a game of Manic Miner.

This is nice but I've always liked a Casio VLTone.

231/365 La Roux S/T

From one extreme to the other. Definitely not Quo.
Guessed from the cover that it'd be very synth pop heavy, and so it turned out.
Sounded at times like they were basing the songs on old computer game tunes, and the vocal got a bit high for me in places, but not a bad listen.

Well, I'm certainly listening to stuff I'd usually ignore.

This is more of a proto-Quo album with the odd chunkachunk riff but with a bit of 12 bar in there too. The chunkachunk obviously paid more.

230/365 Status Quo 'Dog Of Two Head'

I once had tickets for Quo, but forgot to go. If it had been this version I'd have been gutted. It's the bluesy, rough and ready Quo here, rather than the later cabaret one.
Anyway, this is great, which makes their later output even worse in comparison really.

Why can’t we fly our national flag? It doesn’t mean you’ve got some dodgy views. Look at this Hindi symbol of peace, for example.

Named after Roger Delgado? I'd hope so.

Delgado means 'thin' in Spanish.

This is so far up my street. Absolutely loved it and I now want to hear everything they've done.

229/365 The Delgados 'Universal Audio'

Not heard much of these but liked what I have.
That will be changing (the not hearing much bit) after this because I really enjoyed it.
Tuneful, some interesting ideas, and her voice is fantastic.
Not overly groundbreaking, but so what?
A definite yes from me.

Simon Jordan on TalkSport, unchallenged yet again.

As a Talksport employee, I am embarrassed by this rebuttal of what Neville said. This moron pontificates without question. It is bonkers.

And yeah, i'll probably be sacked. Fuck it.
