Yep! The extreme gerrymandering is so often discussed just in terms of sheer R vs D numbers that what gets UNDERdiscussed is that it results in many total lunatics getting elected in non-competitive House districts.
According to the most reliable pollsters his approval is still in the 40s, Id say “fairly unpopular” is pretty accurate.
And a grim reminder that in both of his election victories a not insignificant amount of voters indicated they didnt “approve” of him but voted for him anyway.
Yep, I dont see how they resist the pressure from their base on this if the filibuster goes. Whether or not Rs WANT to take the vote is different than if enough of them would actually kill or block it.
So far theres no evidence the R “moderates” would do anything of the sort.
Trump and his allies effectively own most legacy media and all of social media and there isnt an oppoition party to speak of, but somehow we’re still shocked his approval remains in the 40s.

I’ve talked to several moderately informed normies who simply refuse to believe ICE is currently or even has detained American citizens. There simply is no convincing them otherwise.

I mean I am genuinely puzzled by the idea that its preposterous they would pass some sort of abortion ban. They have a 3 vote cushion. Get past Collins/Murkowski and I dont see the R Senator that would tank it tbh. It might be 16 weeks or something but still a ban.
I have been lukewarm on her candidacy but I do think we need A LOT more Dems in Congress who carry a passionate hatred of ICE in their bones and she probably will.

I wish Sarah would make a distinction between dealing with “the world as it actually is” and dealing with “the faux reality constructed by right wing media” because the two are very different with big policy and political ramifications for how Democrats can win.
I know its Fantasy Land stuff but would love to see Pritzker deputize a whole shit ton of new officers with the express purpose of protecting citizens from illegal ICE abuses.
