The Leyland Society has received a Leyland Tiger Flag from the estate of Eric Heywood a life long Leyland employee. The flag is believed to be one of those used at the launch event in 1981 which took place in Morocco and Gibraltar. Story and photo on the link www.leylandsociety.co.uk/latest-news/

Three products not normally associated with Leyland - Tractor produced in the Bathgate plant, Comet tank produced in Comet Shop, Farington, Leyland and Class 155 DMU produced in the Lilliyhall (Workington) plant.

SEPTEMBER BLOG - Fred Boulton worked in engineering at Leyland immediately before and after nationalisation when cash was tight. In the September 2025 blog he is frank about how the Marathon project evolved on a shoe-string budget. Read more on the link.

Here's an unusual #SaturdayShowoff - it's our fire engine, BRJ333, on the day we pulled it out of the barn where it had lain for many years. It's fully restored now and it's in the 'wartime Manchester' section of our museum. Want to see it? Visiting details at motgm.uk
A very old and dusty fire engine stands in a yard, surrounded by old buildings and a group of museum volunteers. It's clearly just come out of the shed in the background and it's dusty and rusty but complete.

After some operating experience with their Leyland Nationals, NS found the standard windscreen caused too many reflections and decided to replace them with their own design; ZO 3119
(45-05-BB) is one of the conversions, and was photographed at Tiel Station on 19 April 1977.

The order for 450 Leyland for Inversionistas Del Transporte (IDT) in Caracas is well documented. Perhaps less well known is the story of the service and warranty backup provided by Leyland.

Photographed at The Leyland Society Gathering at Rowsley, Derbyshire on 29th June, Sheffield 287 had an interesting life. During its later years in service with Mainline it was converted to open top. When acquired for preservation a donor roof was located and this superb restoration was the result.
