Once, but it genuinely wasn't my fault. It was in an area of Leeds I wasn't familiar with and I'd checked the bus route and times to make sure I got there on time. Sure enough, I got to the stop on time, and the bus turned up late.

Typical. Suffice to say, I never did get that job.

It's been a year, and she was always right about this. We miss you, Janey Godley.

As a Cornish-born laddie with Romani heritage, I struggle with Janey Godley. On one hand, she was an incredibly warm woman who gave me a free interview on the air because her daughter clammed up.

On the other hand, on podcasts, she's made jokes about my people during the Holocaust with such bad taste that it might make Jimmy Carr blush.

But today isn't that day to discuss this. She spent the last 7 years of her life trying to make the world a better place, and her voiceovers kept us all sane during the pandemic. So thank you, Janey Godley, you are missed.
