The parliamentary register of interests shows that Farage has made nearly £400,000 from GB News since August 2024, for c190 hours’ work. This suggests he is being paid more than £2,000 an hour by the news channel. All paid to Thorn In The Side Ltd owned solely by Farage

Here's the ECHR polling from @yougov.co.uk. It ill behoves a generation who've had everything on a plate for two decades to yet again burn the surface off the Earth and leave the young to try to rebuild. Maybe take a pass on this one eh Boomers.

Industry gets created. Government takes bribe from industry so it can grow unregulated, unsustainably and irresponsibly. You have to live a shittier life to mitigate damage, while the industry remains unregulated.

One of the best things about librarianship is that librarians TALK to each other. I'm slowly learning that many of my peers, working in completely different institutions, will happily share information about their work, policies and other relevant things.

What's the point of using/having internet if most of it is ads, AI slop and now you age verification, too.

Oh right, to complain. Never mind.

Woman in line in front of me at the post office is not happy about the cost of shipping. She just whipped out her phone, asked ChatGPT how much it thinks the shipping should cost, and is trying to get the mailman to honor that price.

Is #AI a helpful tool or a barrier to thinking?

🕶️ "A recent student confidently cited AI-generated content that, although convincing on the surface, contained significant inaccuracies," writes Prof Thorsten Fröhlich, who lectures on AI & ethics in education in collaboration with UNESCO

How students should write a thesis in the AI age - Impact of Social Sciences
AI tools help students produce polished theses without deep understanding. Thorsten Fröhlich argues rigid assessment formats stifle critical thinking, and calls for a rethink of how research is…

Some interesting thoughts shared on the panel discussion about librarianship as a profession. I've been thinking about this a lot lately and feel like there is some sort of identity crisis going on. Not that I gained clarity, but hearing others was valuable. #foodforthought #BLA25

something I've learned by covering online archives and libraries is that many valuable, free, online resources are maintained by extremely small teams, maybe one volunteer. Asking them to deal with scrapers that behave like DDoS attacks is unrealistic www.404media.co/ai-scraping-...

Yes and no! When you reach 30 you are old to 20 y/os and old to everyone else, too. Except everyone is also shocked you don't have certain things in life (a house, a family, major career success etc.).
