Happy book birthday to my first child! In one year, this book has...

-been all around the world

-made the finalist list for the Last Syllable Book Award

-helped men and women see their complex grief around infertility and pregnancy loss put into words
The Russian dude in heated rivalry being portrayed as super desirable and also having as many moles as he does is low key healing something in me?

I can tell the heated rivalry folks really know the age of their audience because a t.a.t.u song is featured in one episode

JAKE is and has been what is best about independent lit: weird, excellent, electric.
Hey all, @beansbaker5.bsky.social here. After much deliberation, and many missed deadlines, we've decided to end submissions to JAKE indefinitely on Feb. 15th (two weeks from today). All open submissions will receive a response, and all announced/scheduled work will release, but we're winding down.

It’s sad that we already have Alaska teachers worried about their jobs next year.
Found out right before first period started that, due to seniority, I am first on the chopping block for this layoff cycle, and then a few hours later I was like “why am I so cranky today? Must be the moon” 🙃🙃🙃

I know we should teach more Hayden poems than just “Those Winter Sundays,” but also…man, what a stone cold banger that poem is. 10/10

sometimes when we were kids we would put two slugs in a jar and then check on them every so often to see which slug had eaten the other

anyway, this is the same energy I bring to checking on my "in progress" submissions from 2023 and 2024

My husband watched the first half of episode 3 of heated rivalry (without seeing 1-2) and was like “a barista and a hockey player aren’t even in the same line of work, why are they rivals?”

I can’t relate to any of the “2016 makeup trend” posts because my only makeup routine in 2016 was putting eyeshadow and mascara on an otherwise uncooked face

ummmm you don't understand, MY family came here legally. They had to meet rigorous requirements like, "get on a boat", and "don't shit yourself to death on the boat before it gets there"

The duality of childhood is that 6 can tell me that you need to test a theory “lots of times to make sure the first time’s not a fluke” but also his shirt and underwear are on backwards

some people like to describe their anxiety in folksy ways such as “i’m more nervous than a long tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs” but i like to be more eloquent and say “i have diarrhea again”
