The Evangelical movement doesn't worship Christ. They worship the myth of White Male America. Jesus is there solely to add some legitimacy.

Mike is being honest when he says that. Any push back on their agenda is an attack on their religion. It's a holy war for him.

I have no delusions of this being must-watch fare. The track record for 21st century Star Trek has been VERY bad. So far it's only been the two referential cartoons that didn't completely shit the bed.

I guess it'll come down to how deeply they mine better Trek stories for plot ideas.
