Yeah. My original skeet referred to the film as ‘Anthony Leroy’s Bum’ but then I was like ‘no, wait, I have UK mutuals.’

It’s not on shudder, I’m not sure if it’s ANYWHERE right now. It was part of a 24 hour horror stream that was showcasing some weird and rare films. It’s also where I saw Harvest Brood.

Secretcinematheque.com I think it’s still going for a few more films, but I’m tapped out for the night.

Still I would recommend. There’s really funny stuff, including a great turn by the director himself. Theres also amazing gore and effects and some truly great visuals.

I’ll watch it again when I’m a little less tired and quick to frustration. Also, @shudder.com, give Anthony Leroy a VHS segment!

There’s some really funny stuff in here but after awhile it just started to grate. Also I was confused by the films messaging: it’s a critique of our tendency to demonize and punish the homeless, but when we see homeless people they’re all baby stealing murderers, so what’s the film saying?

Caught another SOV found footage horror tonight; Bum (2025).

Saw people saying this is the best VHS segment not in a VHS movie, and that’s accurate. Maybe would have been better in that format. As it is, the film’s tone is so dialed up that I started to get tired by the half hour mark.

I rented this when I was 16, managed to sneak it past the clerk despite the ‘adults only’ sticker. Watched it while suffering the affects of some bad Mongolian beef.

It’s not the movies fault, but it was the last time I vomited for 17 years, so it will always hold a special place in my heart.

I started this one a bit late, and I almost turned it off for that reason. But something about the SOV look, the haunted tone, the grimy gore, instantly grabbed me. Glad I stuck with it.

Still a work in progress, the completed film should be available later this month. Worth hunting down!

MOVIE #9 - Hey! It's a first for any mind melter.... a WORLD PREMIERE! In this case, it's Joe Meredith's Halloween slasher film HARVEST BROOD (2025)

Ah joined too late… I’ll try to catch the next one on time.

This is THE movie. The movie that got me into horror movies after being too scared of them for my childhood. I love it so much. Got me into Barker’s books, wrote him a fan letter in the 90s (he replied, twice!).

There’s one thing I don’t like about that cut, but otherwise it’s such an improvement!

This ad has played during most (if not all) CineMadnessMovies, and I’m not exaggerating when I say I have had this song stuck in my head multiple times a week for the past 5 years.

I can’t even remember what I didn’t like about it. I had no problems with the vibes.

I know I didn’t care for the characters, and I think I wanted it to go just a little crazier. I was prepared to be totally disgusted and I never got there.

I saw this at the AFI fest years ago, and I remember being a little let down by it. I’ve been meaning to do a rewatch.

I was right! The Video Dead!

Not a good movie, but as I say I’ve come to love it. Like a particularly ugly dog. It’s ugly, it smells bad, it’s always making awful noises, but you just want to protect it.

Just about 30 seconds to go for a new #CineMadnessMovie from @cinematicvoid.bsky.social. Not sure what tonight’s offering will be, but I have a feeling it might be The Video Dead.

The best parts of this are Fred Gwynne and the ghost that warns Denise Crosby. And Zelda of course.

Otherwise I just think the parents are such bad actors. They really drag the movie down.

I remember thinking the sequel was fun but I haven’t seen it since I was a kid. The new remake was kinda crap

I called this goofy, and I had totally forgotten about these silly assholes and their pink hearse.
Three somewhat decaying zombies sitting in the front seat of a car. One has slicked back hair, a musta he and a shiny suit. A woman in the middle, and a jocky meatball driving.

Continuing with the Phranchise; #NowWatching Phantasm III: Lord of the Dead.

Until Ravager, this was by far the goofiest Phantasm film, as Coscarelli goes full-on comic book. Militant Black ninja ladies, sociopathic kid sidekicks, and more world building.

Just an ultimate comfort movie. Such a shame they were never able to make another D’amour movie that Bakula and Barker kept talking about.

Also Daniel Von Bargen is up there with Doug Bradley in his ability to spout Barker’s dialogue. He’s so good in this.
theworkingdead.bsky.social
Well I’m rewatching all of them this month so maybe I’ll be more receptive to it. I just remember finding it too silly, and hating the way it looked.
theworkingdead.bsky.social
Yeah I’m so upset that Coscarelli gave the reigns to someone else on part 5. I love each of the sequels in their own way but that was such a disappointing conclusion.

Should be napping, but a persistent cough is keeping me awake. #NowWatching Phantasm II, the cure for what ails me.

This has such a fantastic concept. Mike and Reg following the Tall Man’s trail of dead towns across America is such a cool way to reintroduce the characters ten years on.
