Reze movie was pretty good. Intro felt rushed, there's way too many needle drops, but it's gorgeously animated and really, really underscores how well written that section of the manga was. Plays the beats well. Walked out of the theater feeling like I got punched in the gut.

Like...I think about this in terms of the power-of-friendship stuff. Ruri Dragon says yes, friendship is good and sometimes comes in unexpected places, but you can't be friends with everyone and you don't need to be friends with people to care about them. It's just good messaging for WSJ.

The strongest thing about Ruri Dragon is how much it believes in community. It's more on the nose as this week, but it always underlines that despite differences and disagreements, whether they like each other or not, caring about one another's well being uplifts everyone and strengthens the group.
