The only piece of the puzzle I’m missing is what sparked such devotion for Adam in Lute. Was it only indoctrination? Or did they really complete each other? We know Vaggie lost her status for an act of mercy, only to meet the most merciful

Lute is the negative mirror of Vaggie, the same way Adam is the negative mirror of Charlie.
