I’ve had a strained relationship with Megadeth for decades. Got into em in 1990 with β€˜Holy Wars’/β€œRiP”, aged 13. Never bettered it, imho. I was into the next two albums through singles and my bezzy’s continued fandom. Nothing after β€œYouth” ever grabbed me again. Realised they’re not really for me!

Even in terms of its artwork and packaging alone, #KidA is jaw-dropping. I’ve lived in those snow-covered fields and hills, under that apocalyptic sky. To me it’s so β€œEnglish” in a hyper-romanticised sense: all those hedgerows. Like something from the flying sequence in Raymond Briggs’s The Snowman.
