My mother and a neighbour has a deserved reputation for quality treats. Pats in hospital this year so she felt the need to make a bigger effort. Despite getting a stash in her weekend shopping, I found her in the local shop weighed down with further treats yesterday. 🎃 👻

It’s that time of the year again, when I carve a Hallowe’en turnip, in honour of this marvellous painted cast of an original turnip from Baile na Finne, Co. Donegal collected in 1910 and held in the National Museum of Ireland

Off to Dunhill Multi-Education Centre this coming Tuesday evening. Providing some insights on the tides and how they were employed and influenced our forebears and the learning that can provide us with in the present. Plan to use a mix of photo, artefact and reenactment to get the point across.

Occasionally, we are lucky enough to find drawings of #fishweirs that appear in historical drawings and plans of other structures. One of the best examples from Ireland is the fish weirs at #Duncannon Fort, Co. #Wexford, on the #RiverBarrow estuary.

On a damp day in Mayo, an indoor option is some stained glass, including this stunning piece, the last made by Harry Clarke and apparently holds his image as one of the damned, St Patrick's Newport
Highly recommend this volunteer led heritage centre on the end of Westport Quay in Co Mayo
