Ah did you find it and fix it?

I have so many dark horse friends who about 20 mins into a casual chat they're like oh hey I did this thing it's not out yet and hoooooooooLY (Looking at you @stevejones.music)

Seems to be the mark of modern technology. It gets worse as it gets better. Is that a marker of techno feudalism? It usually gets worse once it’s identified its serfs. Maybe that’s actually what product market fit is. Lord-Serf Fit.

It’s so funny how quickly and decisively it went this way. Not funny, cool actually.

Also I miss early genAI when it really was a broken mess of properly weirdo shit. Far too way out to claim cultural appropriation / infringement. It was something truly new.

In my most optimistic imagination this leads to a super-smooth, ring-free foreververb.

It's an idea I've had for ages but never floated to the top of my list to build. Potential problems I imagine are uneven distributions of energy when cross-fading grains leading to unpredictable RT60 times.

Reverb nerds - has anyone ever made a reverb with granular diffuser delays? Basically getting around the ringing problem with diffusers that change length by random amounts at regular (or irregular?) intervals.

I could watch Zack Polanski utterly wreck Zia Yusuf ALL DAY LONG.

My new resolution is to scarper from conversations I'm not into as snappily as podcasters take a break. Will probably just go and watch some adverts while I do too. Palette cleanser.

For any guys on here who’ve lost their dad, go read BT (Brian Transeau) ‘s exquisite eulogy to his recently passed dad on Insta. What an inspiration that man is.

TIL the default font in gmail 'Sans Serif' literally doesn't exist in google docs. Is this on purpose to catch out sneaky template pasters?

This is the way. Go to the ends of the earth to make your own distribution channels. So much more magic to be made that way.

I'm just a drop in the bucket but I just told my distributor to remove all my music from Spotify.

If any of my 24 monthly listeners happen to read this I'm happy to send Bandcamp download codes.

Music will continue to be released on Bandcamp or my upcoming video game.

Still, I’ve seen what small positive contributions can do. I want everyone to have that feeling that comes with making an impact, no matter how small. I also want people to know what it feels like when a community has their back.

Thanks for this thread! Particularly the message about positive action. I see people who’ve been so mad for so long, it’s hard to think in terms of pushing in the opposite direction. I’ve definitely been there!

And you might even become part of something bigger and more connected than you dreamed of. 10/9 lol

So my action-bait for you, oh fellow Z-list culture person with small platform: shuffle yer bum off the top of the slide and don't be afraid to share actionable messages of hope with your audience. You will do no harm to your audience's trust and your livelihood... 9/9

Otherwise you spin people into a vortex of anxiety, depression and worst of all inaction. That is exactly how to kill off the movement towards real change.

Less rage-baiting, more action-baiting please. @zackpolanski.bsky.social really gets this. 8/9

Another reason I've never spoken out is that I see absolutely no point in rage-baiting, particularly the engagement-farming type. In my view, if you're provoking emotions, you HAVE to direct them towards positive action... 7/9

Saying things out loud is critically important for bringing about change. Even if everyone who hears you has exactly the same view, saying it out loud brings it alive and takes you one step closer to asking 'so what are we going to do about it?'. 6/9

My takeaway from overcoming inertia today is that if I have a "truth" I want to speak, chances are this truth is wanting to be spoken by most of my audience. They tune in as much because of vibe alignment (outlook) as tribe alignment (being synth nerds) and that goes deep. 5/9

A good friend of mine keeps reminding me that 'the person is the product' these days. For better or for worse, that's true. But when it comes to spreading messages about things you believe in, it's a superpower. 4/9

Mailing 27k people who want to know about synths and samplers with an overtly political message felt scary, but the reality was very much less so. I had one grumpy email. That's it - meanwhile I sent nearly 100 people the Green Party's way and still generated a few sales in my shop. 3/9
