Yeah, he just lost to that young kid on the block, Roglic
Pass, I refuse to root for Pog
The statement is: "I am really struggling to see riders other than Jegat that would be interesting at the Tour"
I don't think Turgis fits the bill for "interesting at the Tour"
Well yeah, but unless they put a gravel of cobble stage in it again, he is very unlikely to repeat that. He's a Terpstra-like rider. Good in one day races, but doesn't sprint or climb well enough to consistently win stages
I mean, Turgis got 1 top 10 in the Tour this year, and that was because because he ended up in the front echelon on stage 1. Doesn't exactly make me enthusiastic about seeing him in the 2026 Tour.

I agree, but I doubt the ASO would kick a "real" French team to include Unibet, especially one that has been included in the Tour for years.
Technically, a team like Caja Rural could apply, but Total scored higher than Caja last year, and if you'd want to invite a Spanish team for the Spanish start, why not kick Unibet instead?
They'll definitely get an invite.
There's 5 wildcards, 3 of those automatic. The automatic invites go to Tudor, Q36.5 and Cofidis. That leaves 2 invites, and only two French teams, Total and Unibet.
Oh yeah, they did. But that team was a lot better than the 2026 is looking to be, and they didn't have sponsorship issues back then.
It's about the year. The three year cycle doesn't matter for wildcard eligibility, just like the automatic wildcards. Three year cycle is just for promotion/relegation
Well, besides the Tour, of course 😉
I'd be surprised tbh, with Total leaving, it seems like a waste of money and anyone who could ve remotely competitive surely will focus on the Tour.
When I read the rules, I believe they were pretty clear in that what matters is the top 30 at the end of the year, so a team folding does not move you up. But yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if that's what will end up happening
So that leaves one open wildcard. Who is even applying for that? Is one of the Spanish teams applying? Or Unibet? Or does the UCI give dispensation to Solution Tech, even though they didn't make the top 30?
Giro could realistically not fill up. Also 5 wildcards, with Q36.5 and Tudor definitely going, plus two Italian teams. I'd be shocked if Cofidis goes, though. French teams don't care about the Giro and their squad last year was predictably dreadful.
The only reason it makes sense to me for them, though, is if Storer or Pidcock decides to double Tour-Vuelta.
Vuelta will probably fill up. Cofidis is definitely riding it because the sponsor is big in Spain. With 3 Spanish teams wanting an invite, both Q36.5 and Tudor would need to decline their invite. Surely one of them must go!
Actually wondering, now that 23 teams are allowed in GT's, will the Giro and Vuelta even fill up? From a pointsscoring perspective they don't really make sense, so you only riding them for the sponsorship exposure or if you think you can do well in GC.
It is, I wanted to use it for hyperbolic effect 😂
Still, we do get winters, including ice and snow here
My homecountry of The Netherlands, with undoubtedly the most bike lines per km². Famously a country without winters.
Pictured: not a winter

Can we just get a full 360 of the guy? It's a waste of time for him to cover the 1919, only to discover his massive Hitler backpiece in that picture.
