I sincerely believe if you sat down 99% of people who talk like that and said “but should we sack judges, bishops and lecturers who make it harder for the government to reduce immigration and cut taxes?” every single one would say “yes of course lmao”

marx reckoned these people never really existed (the ground rent quote) and I think in any meaningful way, they certainly don’t anymore and he perhaps was right that they never did.

genuine point: I think people trying to paint “not rejoining” as being the same thing as “continuing brexit” is probably sound politics, or at least worth trying, because of how much the status quo is now described as “Brexit” in the circles they are courting

maybe because I’m in a naively good faith mood but yeah if I were trying to make “ai” win hearts and not just investor cash, I would say “hey there’s this tech that I can apply to making a very good intuitive feature for your inbox” rather than “I have grown you a girlfriend and she loves em dashes”
