Updated the No Kings protest guide. Expect MAGA agitators—some likely state-planted. Do not take the bait. No violence. No thrones. Just strategy. 📖 Best advice I could find gather on how to deal with agitators: psychopete1.substack.com/p/this-one-matters-a-no-kings-protest

Ever wonder how many of Trump's insane actions the GOP/MAGA really supports and how many they just go along with because they're afraid of the repercussions of showing any backbone?
Damn, that's a nice healthy bump!

What Jay Jones texted in 2022 about a political rival was disgusting & he should be held accountable.

But JD Vance saying it’s "worse" than the leaked Young Republican’s chats about gas chambers for Dems, celebrating sexual assault & slurs against blacks?

What the absolute fuck is he smoking?
JD Vance tries to downplay leak of disgusting Young Republican chats
For the vice president to suggest it’s “pearl clutching” to condemn those who were part of a racist group chat says a great deal about his judgment.

The idea that migrants, people of color, or LGBTQ folks are "taking jobs" from "hard-working white people" is by design.

While you're flipping out at each other, corporations pay less to workers and charge more to everyone.

Anger keeps everyone distracted -- and keeps their CEOs rich.

Can’t believe this still needs saying, but here we go --

"Antifa" = anti-fascist. That’s literally the meaning.

So if you’re “against Antifa,” you’re saying you’re pro-fascist.

Hard stop.

And that’s exactly why the GOP talking heads keep twisting it.

Confusion is the point.
Jesus christ. They're fucking evil.

In a Fox News interview, Mike "Wormtongue" Johnson whined about No King's Day saying "some of the House Democrats are selling t-shirts for the event."

I guess we're just ignoring Orange Dude selling merch at all his appearances, or handing out "Trump 2028" hats to foreign leaders.

So of course over in another dsocial network, my comments about Columbus were met with accusations of me being an Italian American "apologist" & both a sad & angry person (among other things)

They do love hurling insults like their dear leader. Far easier than having an intelligent conversation.
So the GOP is big mad that instead of just accepting their redistricting ploys, Dems fought back with their own efforts.

So now they're gonna do their best to gaslight their base into thinking they're the heroes fighting back against Dems' cheating.

FFS.
"A news release from the state’s Republican legislators said their planned action 'follows President Donald Trump’s call urging legislatures across the country to take action to nullify Democrat redistricting efforts.' "

ROFL these clowns literally started the whole thing. Christ the gaslighting.

Thank you! An excellent point that's often lost to time and further illustrates that the celebration was created for several reasons...Columbus himself not really being one of them.
At the same time, we can critically examine historical figures, their impacts and acknowledge their truths over the legends.

Those of us in the Italian American community can and should celebrate our heritage and achievements. In fact, ALL of October is Italian American Heritage month with October 9th designated "National Italian-American Day".

7/8
It's important to recognize that acknowledging Columbus's controversial actions does NOT diminish the contributions of Italian Americans to this country.

6/8
Later, President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed a proclamation in 1934, officially designating October 12 as Columbus Day, and in 1968, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed legislation making it a federal holiday.

5/8
At the time, very little else was known about Columbus' behavior -- including his horrific treatment of the natives he encountered in the Caribbean -- and the fact that he did not in fact discover America proper.

4/8
In order to ease tensions, President Harrison declared a one-time national celebration of Columbus Day in 1892, coinciding with the 400th anniversary of Columbus's landing in the Americas. The intent was to honor an Italian figure and provide a sense of pride to the Italian American community.

3/8
The prejudice came to a head in the 1891 New Orleans lynchings, where a mob killed 11 Italian immigrants, most of whom had been acquitted in a trial.

This incident was one of the largest mass lynchings in U.S. history and strained diplomatic relations between the United States and Italy.
