Similarly describing him as an "expert on antifa" rather than an "antifascism researcher" further legitimates antifa as a proper noun in a way that makes zero sense

you'd think a prominent news outlet like the New York Times might mention that "antifa" isn't an actual organization in a long story about antifa, but nope!

and the subhead helps props up a false claim this professor was up to something seedy as something up for debate

subheadline: "Mark Bray was teaching courses on antifascism. Turning Point USA accused him of belonging to antifa, which he denies. His flight to Spain was canceled abruptly on Wednesday night."

That’s why I asked – it seemed so unlikely. 😅 I completely agree about Lucy. At the time, prestigious film critic James Agee raved, “Pretty Lucille Ball, who was born for the parts Ginger Rogers sweats over, tackles her ‘emotional’ role as if it were sirloin and she didn't care who was looking." 😊

As I noted last night, I first saw it in the ‘70s, and it just seemed like a big ol’ soapy drama. Did TCM call it a noir? I think if you start claiming #TheBigStreet is a noir, it’s a slippery slope before you find yourself making the case for Dark Victory, Kitty Foyle and The Lady Eve, you know? 😉

You crazy young kids. I believe I saw it 45 years ago on The Late Late Show, when I was in college. 😊 And I’m sorry, but if The Big Street is a film noir, I’m the Queen of England. (Given that he calls her Your Highness, it seemed like an appropriate metaphor. 😅)
