So I just published my first book. Well, an e-book. My essay about film director William Dieterle – one of the directors who revolutionized #OldHollywood – was so kindly received, I expanded it into a full book. If you love classic film, I hope you’ll take a look. 😊🎥 www.amazon.com/dp/B0FK127P37/

New #ClassicFilm essay today devoted to BRIAN AHERNE, whose good looks and formidable talent should have assured him of celebrity – had he not fallen prey to self-sabotage and indecision. It’s a great cautionary tale; I hope you’ll take a look. thatsallsiknow.blogspot.com/2025/11/bria... #FilmSky 🎥

As Lorenz Hart, he is giving us a masterclass.

I LOVE TROUBLE. You gotta love a film where the ending line is about the end of a line. (Bonus points for assembling Janet Blair, Glenda Farrell, Adele Jergens & Janis Carter in one room.)

@ladykdesigns.bsky.social, this challenge was a blast. TY!

When I was a junior in high school, a friend and I cut classes on a Wednesday, took the bus to Boston, and took in a matinee of the post-Broadway tour of ‘Travesties.’ It was my introduction to Stoppard, and to Broadway-class theatre in general, and I was hooked on both counts.

Let’s give a little love to THE LOCKET (1946), with Laraine Day’s childhood trauma setting her on a troubled course. The flashbacks within flashbacks are masterful, but how many of them are true? And how can one woman have shattered so many lives?

Doing our traditional nontraditional Raclette Thanksgiving, using the grill I got Philip in 2019. Meats & vegetables grilling, cheese melting, with pecan & pumpkin pie for dessert. Plus a family pic. Can you guess which one of us Gregory likes better? 😅 Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours. 😊

THE BREAKING POINT, where the malaise of impending middle age meets the disillusion of the postwar era. Ernest Hemingway called it the best adaptation of any of his novels; John Garfield called it his best performance. Can’t argue.
