This week, I resigned from my position as Director of IT/Tech at an org I truly believed in. I wanted us to stop using Generative AI and was told no.

This thread will explain my decision and why I believe this is a true crisis. I hope ya see this and if you want to chat, + or -, lets do it 1/
My long thread chunked into 4 pieces. Its too long to add alt text so hopefully you read the post if you were interested enough to click on the image! My long thread chunked into 4 pieces. We'd also relegated sports betting to something you did in person, at a strip mall in Niles, Illinois.

Hey, if we're gonna get radical I'm all for it.

Nationalize any ballpark that has received public funding and transition all teams into fan-run collectives. Money wont matter and we can fully democratizize this
toneloaf.bsky.social
Okay, look, I'll do my best to never buy a seat in Milwakuee near you, won't even tell you I'm there. And I'll respect you from a distance when the revolution is complete.

Good luck in the playoffs, my MIL would kill me but the Brewers are awesome, Ben Sheets rules

Gotta buy em in bulk or it aint worth it for me.

Green Bay model isn't close enough but thats the right direction

On a side note, hopefully we can agree that Summerfest is a great time. The whole lakefront is great
toneloaf.bsky.social
Well if I, and other Chicagoans, hadn't traveled up to Milwakue the past decade, your team would look very different
toneloaf.bsky.social
And how do Cubs/White Sox fans handle this? Mets/Yankees?

It just doesn't really work, so I think you have to exist in the world where fandoms mix.
toneloaf.bsky.social
Right but then this breaks down to any sport operating at a unit smaller than Milwakuee. Can the other rec league fans come to our field? What about youth athletics?

You're creating a framework for pro sports that doesn't make sense, even if it sounds like it does(it does!)

Essentially this, yea

I mean, don't ya want thay Chourios money? I helped pay for that!

But the inability to be on a park with the other fans? Cmon, you know three cities have 2 teams, right? This is as nonsense as suggesting we all live in single family homes.

Sounds great but doesn't make any sense. We're meant to be together
toneloaf.bsky.social
Ya know a quarter of the fans in the stands are just friends and partners, kids and parents, right?

Look, I get the idea you're presenting but its not reality. Cleveland folks move, some people are from Iowa, and a ballpark will never be all home fans
toneloaf.bsky.social
Y'all legit have a way nicer park and I'm a jerk for coming?
toneloaf.bsky.social
Idk man, I'm a cubs fan who has gone to several games in Milwaukee and never seen an issue.

The current biggest issue, honestly, is hearing how unwelcome i was by fans like you.

I don't mean to be rude but cmon, you're advocating I dont visit, thats really harsh

Cooking dinner isn't a game, so this analogy falls flat.

You want there to be an opposition, so there is a game to play, but they need to stay away to keep up the positive vibes?

Tell Adam Aizer that yes, the point of the stick is to move it while you eat! The rest of CBD FFT are wrong. Jamie doesn't know burgers!!
