In 2004, Parisian police were conducting a training exercise in the french catacombs and found, after moving past a desk and a tape playing audio of snarling dogs, a fully functional movie theater and bar. When they returned 3 days later, the equipment was gone, with a note: “Do not try to find us.”
Members of the force's sports squad, responsible
- among other tasks - for policing the 170 miles of tunnels, caves, galleries and catacombs that underlie large parts of Paris, stumbled on the complex while on a training exercise beneath the Palais de Chaillot, across the Seine from the Eiffel Tower.
After entering the network through a drain next to the Trocadero, the officers came across a tarpaulin marked: Building site, No access.
Behind that, a tunnel held a desk and a closed-circuit TV camera set to automatically record images of anyone passing. The mechanism also triggered a tape of dogs barking, "clearly designed to frighten people off," the spokesman said.
Further along, the tunnel opened into a vast 400 sq metre cave some 18m underground, "like an underground amphitheatre, with terraces cut into the rock and chairs". There the police found a full-sized cinema screen, projection equipment, and tapes of a wide variety of films, including 1950s film noir classics and more recent thrillers. None of the films were banned or even offensive, the spokesman said.
A smaller cave next door had been turned into an informal restaurant and bar. "There were bottles of whisky and other spirits behind a bar, tables and chairs, a pressure-cooker for making couscous," the spokesman said.
"The whole thing ran off a professionally installed electricity system and there were at least three phone lines down there."
Three days later, when the police returned accompanied by experts from the French electricity board to see where the power was coming from, the phone and electricity lines had been cut and a note was lying in the middle of the floor: "Do not," it said, "try to find us."

tskupin.bsky.social

I know that the Altman and the Suck want that. Wünsche ham wer alle. My question is what is in it for people?
tskupin.bsky.social
I know why the companies want everybody to use that stuff.
What I don't understand is why you would use it for human interactions. Are people afraid that they are not clear enough when using own words?
tskupin.bsky.social
and, you know... work?

Thing is, I have more people I want to connect with than I have time. And if I want to have the illusion of connection (due to lack of spoons), I can talk to my Blahaj.
tskupin.bsky.social
Somebody compared AI to going to the gym and let somebody else do the actual training. and yes, that would be exactly this. If you let AI do the interactions, you don't have community. It boggles my mind, why you would want that?
tskupin.bsky.social
I can understand somebody polishing off their prose by AI esp if you are not a native speaker. But this thing looked entirely generated. Again- why?
I am taking time out of my busy day to interact, to connect.
How do you connect if you don't actually do the interaction?
tskupin.bsky.social
but the answers to other commenters were equally... off. And I can't stop wondering... were those answers generated with AI?!
And if... why?
Why would I use a social media, and let my answers be written by ai?
tskupin.bsky.social
On something that I found interesting, the social differences between countries. And I got an answer, that was nice.
But... the answer... didn't fit. It almost fit, but not completely.
Ok, there is the possibility that the OP attached to one part of my answer, and expressed their reaction weirdly

Something weird happened to me yesterday. Backstory: An aquaintance recommended to me to start commenting on IinkedIn, like interact with the community. LinkedIn is not my social media of choice, but, I am jobhunting and by now, desperate enough to try anything. So i commented.
