So, let me get this straight. In their Big Bill, Republicans made it a priority to extend, permanently, tax cuts for the wealthy.

Now they can’t be bothered to even discuss healthcare credits for people making less money who use the ACA?

#MedicareForAll would be one of the biggest freedom and business boosters in history. Imagine being able to choose jobs w/o factoring in if you get healthcare. Imagine being a business w/o having to factor in coverage. Imagine all covered. Yes, taxes will go up but it’s less than premiums.

The USA has a very patchwork, costly, inefficient healthcare insurance system unlike a lot of countries where it is simpler and cheaper.

In the short term, people do need the ACA subsidies to make this patch work.

But we need a long term solution that’s simpler, cheaper, covers all. It’s doable.

Correct. Instead of cutting people off healthcare, Republicans could have not given huge tax breaks to the wealthy and not invested tens of billions into ICE.

The GOP priorities are clear, Billionaires First. Millionaires next. The rest, eh.

And we could have a much better immigration system to benefit all. The USA needs immigrants, always has.

But the anti-immigrant crap is a key tool to play on people’s fears and racism in order to distract from the concentration of wealth and power going on. Happening now with the shutdown.

I am all for well-regulated and competitive capitalism (which we don't have now!) on most things, but on healthcare (a human right to me), I agree this shouldn't be about making money.

Great job. It's frustrating to see policy "debates" when one side directly lies. I get that lying is a oft-used tactic because some people won't dig deeper. You set the true of this straight in a clear way.

Too much power, wealth concentrating in too few hands. No good for anyone in long term.

Those in power/wealth now pitting rest of us against each other with same old anti-immigrant crap and other culture war stuff.

But I trust, still have hope in “we the people” to outlast and overcome this.

Not gonna happen but:
1. Repeal tax breaks for wealthy and replace with increases and guaranteed minimums for the wealthiest.
2. Do Medicare for All and be done with this costly, inefficient hodgepodge USA approach.
3. Cut back ICE/defense spending.
4. Restore checks, balances in govt and economy
