I mean, the fact that there was a long running game in JP arcades until very recently that had its roots in a Famicom accessory (people who worked on the game cited Data Cardass as an inspiration) is still kinda wild to think about.

I’m seeing PS3 mentions on my timeline and now am thinking about one of my favorite games for the platform:

PAIN.

I know Goat Simulator does the ragdoll thing really well, but PAIN was unabashed, self-injurious chaos. I genuinely love the game and miss it a lot.

Like, if anything the fact she sold as much as she did -after- the rules got changed to prevent her specifically from "cheating" (please do not tell these people about the 20+ variants of Brat across all three versions of said album, they won't acknowledge it) is more impressive to me.

Every time somebody says "but the variants!" they're pretending that "but the variants!" wasn't the reason why Billboard stopped counting album sales after specific purchase limits per person/address/transaction were hit.

Which, like, started BECAUSE people complained about Swift specifically.

There are Dreamcast games with playable online still, but they're all peer to peer titles so you typically need some external method to arrange a game, but beyond that hurdle, it Just Works.

That's literally when the "they laughed us out of the room" story took place, which is an extra layer of hilarity because Nintendo at their weakest business wise was still not gonna entertain an actual serious offer from MS, and the people in that room have only been vindicated by events since.

Microsoft telling retailers their margins can go to hell sounds like a Phil Spencer strategy, given that margin on hardware and accessories is basically zero nowadays, sure hope it pays off for them.

That Star Wars game by Ubi runs really well, but it's the only high profile third party thing I can think of that's a PS5/XBS exclusive and has parity to those versions.

The thing with putting shit on a sale is that you're typically expecting it to, you know, sell. Xbox players have been trained to not buy games thanks to game pass and people outside of the ecosystem are being trained to not buy in to said ecosystem by the "everything is an Xbox now" strategy.
