She doesn't directly benefit from it in any way, why would she care?

They're all performative hacks.

I would gladly watch another Tron movie, as long as Leto was not in it. As is, this is an easy hard pass.

I also don't claim authenticity. But I do claim tasty!

I swear I sometimes make a meal that starts w/ onions and garlic just because I like the smell so much.

The greasy spoon near college had an old cook from Louisiana, one day I noticed an onion half in each upper corner of the griddle, just sitting there. I asked, he said he puts them there in the morning, they go all day. "Makes people hungry when they walk in."

Sweating onions & garlic.

Well that's just great. It was already kinda pricey here, now it's 30% more.

What’s the word where you’re from that, when pronounced exactly as it looks, identifies a tourist immediately?

Last Trump term, tariffs removed 20% of soybean exports. They never returned.

The base problem is that other nations now see that the US gov't is so capricious that it's impossible to make any long-term deals with us. So we can try to subsidize our way back, but it's going to be a tough sell.

Johnson should just come out and say that he doesn't want a brown person doing the show.

Thing is soybeans are a commodity, which means you can get from lots of places; there's nothing special about US soybeans. Also, once trade deals are in, they're hard to shake. Lastly, foreign gov'ts now see how capricious & fragile the US gov't actually is.

There's no "might" about it. The market for US soybeans in China is gone: bsky.app/profile/sara...

Soybeans were the bulk of US ag exports; China was the largest buyer. That is over.

US farmers are saying they "just need temporary help, until things get better."

Here's the thing. US farm exports- which are mostly soy- CANNOT get better.

Other countries expanded their soy industries to fill China's demand.

We've walled ourselves out of the global market, folks. This is it.

It *is* a great book with a unique premise, that ain't no lie!

Buy this book. It's very good! And I guarantee you haven't read a scifi book like it.

I came across him at Google's HQ staring at the big spinning Earth display with all the search frequency spikes. Showed him how to use it & he spent 5 minutes giggling like a boy while playing with it. Sounds corny but he had an actual fucking *twinkle* in his eyes. AI can't replicate that.

They're at the bar.

Hey, there's more media than ever these days so we can all find something we like, and that doesn't take away from what others might like. Not a zero-sum game. I personally find Swift saccharine and grating. But I'm not going to say that it's "bad". You like her stuff, that's great.
twoandseven.bsky.social
Ah! That makes a lot of sense. I'll go look into it tomorrow!

I admit I don't understand Mastodon. Do you have to pick a certain server? If so, can you talk with people on other servers?

Also, I would like to point those who are unaware to Jay Zeamer and the Eager Beavers: www.nationalmuseum.af.mil/Visit/Museum...

They literally built their own B-17 from a downed plane, junk & stolen parts, then used it like a fighter & on the most dangerous missions.

That's utter junk, too.

Yes, the F4F Wildcat was *wildly* inferior to the Zero. P38, too. That thing sucked. And whose bright idea was the Corsair & P47? Hot garbage. Everyone knows the Mustang & Spitfire were chumps against the superior & easily-built Bf 109.

Next up, we talk US "Time-on-Target" artillery fire...
